This was always more likely against a possession side like Southampton though as they give us the opportunity to win the ball high. Not much chance to do that against a side that goes long.

Wow what a performance. We'll pay for missing the chances to score.

That's about as good as we've played for a very very long time against a supposedly good team waiting on promotion, totally bossed it, and how it isn't 4 or 5 I don't know, more of the same lads keep at it, brilliant stuff

That's me at 5 a side too! (except 25 yards not 80). I've often thought about it but can't explain why!

What a half from City, could and should have been 3 up, just hope we can keep this up.

This is going to be an horrendously stressful 2nd half! Touching distance of a massive win.....everyone is playing so well, to a man they're playing some great stuff. Lewie Coyle leading by example today, outstanding.

Stunning. going to be a tough second half though. Need to keep pressing as long as they physically can.

That’s the best 45 I’ve seen from us this season. Pressing has been brilliant. We’re pressing as a unit and it’s caused Southampton no end of issues. Our counter-attacking has been quality too. If the finishing had been a more clinical, we could be 4 or 5 nil up.

Need to come out second half with the exact same intensity and only take our foot off the pedal after 70 or 75 minutes.

    Think Martin has underestimated us.
Their bench is scary though, full of attackers and I think he'll use it from the start of the 2nd half.

Well, who'd 'a thought! Briliant, it's like City's version of Bazball! Really, we should be 4 up but let's not be too greedy.

2nd half won't be such a cakewalk though, Russell Martin'll put a rocket up their arses and we'll see a different Soton.

Best 45 minutes of the season so far. The hour mark will be pivotal, we’ll start to flag so need to make good use of the subs. Hopefully we can keep the next 15 minutes tight.

Great to see the number of times City are winning the second balls.

    Amazing half

Surely we can’t keep that intensity up can we?

We might rue not getting a couple of the 83 chances we’ve had (!) but even so…superb half of football

They will have to sub Rothwell at half time, he’s a rabbit in the headlights. And Walker-Peters must be on the verge of a red card now after chopping down Greaves and getting away with it.
