It was 60 year old version by the Cookies I was referring to. To be fair most songs by Goffin & King would make decent chants! (And the Carole King musical is superb btw)
Some great trips down memory lane here. But I just wish the North Stand or whoever would take a chance and show some originality. That version 'I'm into something good' for example. I remember Man Utd fans singing that about Jose M when we were in the PL last, probably considered way way beyond passé these days by other clubs. Not the most important thing I know and people supporting the team/having a good time is paramount, but come on, with social media and connectivity surely making it easier to try something new, unique to City and that others may copy for a change.
They both were released to same month, July, so wasn’t sure you were as you are not as ancient as me.
I think after scoring a goal the stadium tanoy system should blast out Tiger Feet by Mud then everyone can sing along. Not if it's a header of course, will have to think of something else for that.
What were the words ironed out for 3 Day Millionaire? I always thought it should have been fairly easy, because there’s a pause after the line anyway, to replace ‘couldn’t give a bugger I’m a man’ with ‘couldn’t give a bugger I’m a City fan’
Never heard those versions love the simplicity like they’re singing in your front room,- now , how can I overwrite them into some threat of severe violence that will never happen !!
Is there such a thing as a bad Goffin and King song? That was what was great about the early 1960s, the Beatles and the Stones and others covering songs which led you to look up the originals which then led to a load of great music by those artists.
Really I’d settle for caravan of love, easy to sing memorable good chorus/ hook and decent links to here . My mates hate ‘wise men’ as it’s other teams song and nowts worse than oppos joining in !!!
It's embarrassing that we still don't have our own 'anthem'. Agree, we could do something with Caravan of Love.
Ah forgot that , scrap the idea unless we think very few will know that , now you’ve kept it quiet. LOL
Actually, I ballsed up. It was sung by a Blunts fan, not written by one. Don’t like it anyway, it is a bit of a dirge.
