Possibly the last race day to have an impact on the Supreme Novices Hurdle as No Flies On Him takes on Tullyhill at Punchestown. Hope Edward O’Grady’s horse can take him back to the winners enclosure at the Cheltenham Festival. He is 20/1 with Unibet for the Supreme ahead of this race.
3:20 Massini Man this horse loves Musselburgh and I thought his return to the course was very taking, despite being beaten far enough. He now goes against a weaker looking field with that run under his belt. I hope they don’t dawdle, but his course form is too hard to ignore and I think the price is fair enough.
The Grand National Trial Handicap Chase at Punchestown (14:35) a Class-1 event over 3m3f on heavy ground, is certainly a tough nut to crack. A decent race though with the emphasis, of course, on stamina. Am hopeful that Stormy Judge has a good go at winning it. About second favourite at the moment. J. J. Slevin rides for the Pat Fahy yard. 9/1 best price at time of writing, on both the ATR and Oddschecker sites. E/W best option.
Same here, Stormy Judge dropped away tamely mid-race, never in with the remotest chance. Just noticed it did finish 5th which surprised me. Must have rallied and made very late progress.
Excellent from Tullyhill who was backed off the boards all day. As low as 5/1 for the Supreme and its all about how Mullins will juggle his best novices again - although Tullyhill only has the Supreme entry, unlike Ballyburn.
Without further ado will go for the Gordon Elliott entry in the penultimate race at Punchestown, (16:40), a Pro/Am Flat Race. Mr Harry Swan (3) on board Masterboy Davis for the Elliott yard. Best price is a meagre 15/8 (Unibet) on the ATR site.
Thought I read somewhere that he intended to send Ballyburn to the Supreme for definite? Maybe I was day dreaming.
Allaho's brother Attaho ran earlier in a P2P and came 3rd - beaten 7 lengths I think. Likely will prove a smart Point looking to the future with the winner Goraibhmaithagat (Go raibh maith agait), meaning " Thank you" being owned by JP McManus. A couple to put in the note book perhaps.
