Maybe exchange "standard" for "gap in wealth"

    Good old parachute payments eh

We won’t be competing for automatic promotion any time soon.

Parachute payments are the biggest anomoly in football. I dont think any other league in the world does it. It completely skews the game.

The only impact parachute payments have are to encourage owners to go big on the spending because they have this buffer if they go down. It is entirely at odds with wanting strong financial governance.

Only problem for us when we were in that position our parachute payment was used by del boy and Rodney to buy the club and then wondered why we ended up in league one

When Southampton can spunk 10m on a crocked striker and not really be impacted when he, unsurprisingly, gets injured again then it shows how much deeper the pockets of the relegated clubs are. It will be same next year when Burnley and sheff utd come down. They should both piss the league if they do things right. The championship is a cracking league, no Var, games are pretty even and entertaining but the parachute payments are threatening to ruin it. Fair play to Ipswich but they've probably gambled and spent far more than they really should

Bang on. I fully expect Burnley and Sheff United to be automatic promotion chasers next season. I genuinely expect us to be in this league for 10+ years, can’t see a proper promotion charge any time soon.
