Think we concede first probably another **** scrappy set piece but think we claw one back 1-1 would love to be more positive but we’re so poor away from home
Problem is we lack intensity particularly when playing away from home , a young team that lack physicality and are bullied by more experienced teams who have sussed out our Achilles heel which has happened too many times this season . The team react better when playing at the SOL with the backing of our support but despite having excellent travelling backing we seem to be so easy to be intimidated and bullied , outfought particularly in midfield - we need to get some BALLS and stick up for ourselves or we will continue with our poor form away from home . Haway the lads !!!
Balls with it, time to mix it up a bit. I’ve got Jobe up front as we all know he will be starting somewhere (I’d personally start Rusyn though). Would like to see Rigg in the team instead of Ekwah but think we need a bit more physically in midfield. And yeah O’Nein on defensive midfield duties as we look weak as piss there currently. Tell Ba to stick to the wing and Jobe not to wander too deep. Rigg on for Ekwah second half depending how the game is going.
Cheers RTB, another great thread. Hope our team can do it justice this time out. I am not so convinced tactics were at fault om Wednesday as others. They played a part, particularly with Ba in the middle where he isnt suited. For me though it was about attitude. The will to win was missing from too many and we looked lethargic. Really need to shake that off or it will be another tough day. There arent any poor sides in this division so you have to graft first and foremost. Birmingham at home will put a right shift in make no mistake. I am now of the opinion we cant have Ekwah and Jobe in the same side. Not whilst both have this inconsistency about their game. I would sit one of them out and it would probably be Ekwah. I would like to see Rigg come in. We need a spark and he is the most likely of all our fringe players to do it. Then the right sidd of midfield is the next puzzle. I would probably stick with Ba. The 2 Brum full backs bring a lot of attacking threat so he brings a bit of solidity alongside his own attacking threat. Mundle is rapid but he is also a bit OTT in the tackle so far. Last thing we need is to be down to 10 after 30 mins. He needs to show a bit more maturity in his tackling before he gets a start. Not a bad option with 25 to go of course. Lastly I thought Ballard was leggy on Wednesday. Hope he has recovered well as Stansfield will want to run behind all day long. No prediction from me. Hard to after the performance on Wednesday. I will be looking closely at intensity levels in the warm up and the first 15 mins. Will tell me a lot about how the game, and perhaps the season, may pan out.
we really need to win hopefully the players step up after the shambles of Wednesday night no doubt Mowbray will have them fired up for this game Haway The Lads
I’d have expected them to have a bomb up their arses after Wednesday and be much more committed and dynamic as MB has sort of mentioned. Away win, massively improved performance and Mundle to start, Rigg to get 30 minutes.
Patrick Roberts will undergo a scan today to determine the extent of a hamstring injury. Roberts was forced off in the closing stages of the Lads’ midweek clash with Huddersfield Town. Head Coach Micheal Beale said: “It’s obviously a real sore one for us to take because we tried to manage his minutes. We were managing a calf (injury) and then he managed to get a hamstring (injury). “It is a miss but it’s a big chance for Romaine Mundle to step up now. Abdoullah Ba has played well in that position.” Meanwhile, Callum Style is pushing to be in contention for this weekend’s trip to Birmingham City as he steps up his recovery from appendix surgery. “It was Callum’s second full session today so we will have to see” Beale added. “By next week, he will be 100 per cent so will have to see whether he makes the bench and how much he can play.”
Our away form has to change or it will cost us, I do think we need to freshen the team up and would love to see Rigg get a full game, would also like to see 2 strikers up front, I doubt this will happen but we live in hope. I never get a prediction right so with that in mind I think we will lose 3-1, hopefully that jinx works. Excellent thread again RTB, lets hope we are all in a better mood come 5pm Saturday than we were Wednesday night !
Was talking to @Scout73 yesterday and we both were saying the same, we can't start with both Ekwah and Jobe in cm. I'd definitely give Riggs a start tomorrow.
I reckon big TM will plan against our usual starting 11. Therefore needs a mix up. Patio Hume Ballard Seelt Norweigen O'Nien Neil Mundle Bellingham/Rigg Clarke Rusyn
Well I am normally one of the most optimistic SAFC fans but it was a massive kick in the town halls the other night. Still went for an away win and will probably put a silly score on the predictor but and its a big but, we are obviously a bunch of homers. The soft c*nts bottle it away from home and scores back that up. By the way that last sentence is hoping if any players reads this that line fkn annoys them. Must be nice playing a settled team but if players arent doing it give the others a chance. Aouchiche, Rigg etc must be asking for a chance and after the other night should be given the opportunity. Cheers RTB. Once again excellent write up.
