I've been in RFL meetings with Adam. He isn't, in my opinion, right for the game of Rugby League or Hull FC. Unfortunately thats all I can say on here.
In my experience the majority of rugby league fans in Hull don't have City as their preferred football team. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
In my experience, if I find myself in the unfortunate position of being in conversation with one of these odious pricks, and, if I can be arsed… if it’s apparent they consider themselves hfc / hkr; Liverpool I’m HC & St Helens, “ “ Manchester, I’m HC & Salford or Wigan, “. “. Tws, I’m HC & leeds rl. This often leads to a response of f*** o** or k*** head, which totally misses the irony of their very being!
Don't particularly care that much for Rugby. I'm from East Hull so there maybe is a bias, but I was more bothered about the state of the pitch than the two teams on it. But I certainly know a lot more people who are KR/City over FC/City, and most FC fans I know support teams that aren't in amber and black. Mainly, I just simply think FC can get ****ed. And KR being the ones humiliating them is the cherry on top.
I don't follow RL, but from the little I hear / know, haven't FC been in 'restructure' year after year, pretty much ever since Adam became involved? At least it seems that way.
... as was the 2nd one that got sent off late on. The way I saw it was the KR player was getting in a little bit of tame retribution for the earlier forearm smash and studs to the face, which led to the FC retaliating and deliberately kneeing the KR player in the head twice. Was laughable listening to the co-commentator defending him saying the kneeings to the head were purely accidental!! .
Yep mind I would knee him too but there’s a massive clamp down now on all head contact Both codes are going through a crisis with it now I don’t know what the answer is to it Oh ye scrap it it’s a **** game
I’m exactly the same, not been into rugby but have grown to dislike FC enough over the last few years. Cite the Liverpool title winner post they made, that I’ve grown a soft spot for Rovers in the process
Like some others used to go to FC matches now and then if City weren’t playing as I lived in West Hull at the time but that stopped after the Brentford game in 1980.
The club has a cancer running through it. Radders went some way to addressing it but then Pearson sacked him live on tv in some kind of egotistical power play. Tony Smith is now having to rebuild but with less funds. I know at least one shirt sponsor told Pearson to shove it this season because of the way the club is being run. That cancer has been there for at least 10 years, probably more like 20. They could learn a lot from Hudgell and Hull KR.
I've just learned that if Hull get ZERO points this season, they stay up!! What kind of incentive is that to have a go?....RL going backwards and heading towards fully franchised clubs. Akin to NFL. Perhaps they'll introduce a draft system were the up and coming larkers go into the worst team....!!
To someone who doesn't follow RL, FC seems like such a totally depressing club to follow. Seems like every season is a write-off as soon as it begins, as someone else said they seem to be permanently at the start of a rebuild. They obviously have no money and seemingly no hope of getting any any time soon in a sport which has very little going for it. Somehow they never get relegated so unlike when a football team is **** they don't even have that longer-term hope of regrouping and coming back up stronger. I like to think I'm a pretty hardy City fan but if it was as bleak as that I honestly don't know how I'd keep turning up week after week, season after season, with nothing to even hope for.
That's pretty much nailed it. They are broke and nobody will invest in what there is left. The club probably has a larger fan base (when they turn up) than Rovers but they turn very quickly when they realise the team is as **** as it was last year and the owner has false promised better things if they buy a pass. Its like a loop video. Rovers have spent the best part of 20 years building the club to what it is today with continual growth year on year on and off the pitch. When I was there in 2008 it was the first year we had been full time in a while. Hudgell rolled the dice and spent a fortune to get into Super League. That paid off and since then they've created a brilliant match day experience, got their training facilities right and invested well on the field and in the academy. He convinced local business men like Sewell to stick cash in and join him on the journey and they are now sitting very pretty watching the events unfold at the MKM. It didn't happen overnight though and if Hull want to he a serious club again they need to go through some pain to get there. Hull KRs progress can be compared with how Acun seems to be wanting to work at City. Hull FC permanently restart rebuilds because they don't see the previous one through. It's painful, embarrassing and expensive at times but if you want to get rid of the root causes of the problems it has to be done over a long period. Manchester United are doing the same thing Hull FC are. Throwing money at the wrong types of player, changing managers and blaming individuals when actually the whole club needs to look in the mirror.
