Some interesting and topical quotes from a book written in 1944.Hayek The Road to Serfdom It's basically pointing out the failings of socialism, and it's links to Nazi's, communism, marxism etc. and how they inevitably lead to forelock tugging serfs and failure. One of the main points is that less government is better. "Not only is even the worst oppression condoned if it is committed in the name of socialism, and the creation of a totalitarian system openly advocated by people who pretend to speak for the scientists of liberal countries; intolerance too is openly extolled. Have we not recently seen a British scientific writer defend even Inquisition because in his opinion it "is beneficial to science when it protects a rising class"?l This view is, of course, practically indistinguishable from the views which led the Nazis to the persecution of men of science, the burning of scientific books, and the systematic eradication of the intelligentsia of the subjected people." https://ctheory.sitehost.iu.edu/img/Hayek_The_Road_to_Serfdom.pdf
Did you read the pop up version of the Communist manifesto? We are the good guy Communists They are the forelock tugging serf ergo proletariat. Yes you have mentioned that many times . You believe in big Government that decides everything for you & you can't vote them out . Anyone that works hard & builds a business should have the wealth & company seized by daddy Government & the capitalist pig punished .
The true test of who owns the power is , which group can not be criticised ? 100 million plus murdered by communism could be 75 million could be 150 million it's up for debate. If you don't repeat the 6 million figure plus & estimate it lower you can be arrested & even imprisoned for questioning it . They don't sound like persecuted victims.
Sadly Archers is probably one of the stupidest posters on this thread , he doesn't know anything about Marx Engels Marxism or what Marxist aims are . Typical Labour voting moron
Robert Owen was decades before Marx and Engels, and it's debatable whether he'd define himself as a Socialist, let alone a Communist, and he stood for a welfare state and a more cooperative approach to the economy. The idea that anyone left of centre gets all the ideas and ideals from Marx and Lenin is like saying everyone who advocates lower taxes is an ardent follower of Heinrich Himmler. Though some are, perhaps...
Modern Marxists are people who watched austerity rip up their communities, saw the numbers of millionaires becoming billionaires and blamed these billionaires Modern Fascists saw the same thing, somehow think they are just around the corner from being a millionaire themselves and blame immigrants for it not having happened already
A lot of talk about a cheeky line when I was around Liverpool Street recently but not sure if related.
