Saw Big Daddy & Giant Haystacks wrestle live when I was a kid. Somewhere near a seaside campsite no doubt (I’m thinking either Rhyl or Gt Yarmouth) Very entertaining for an 8 year old (ish) My old man did a bit of backstage work at theatres etc and came home from working backstage at wrestling (in Hull) and said they’d had the script pinned up on the back of the door!
As kids we used to regularly go to Brid Spa on a Monday night to watch the wrestling. For weeks it was like slapstick comedy, but one night it got a bit heated with some local Brid Youths generally supporting the baddie and slagging off the goodie, much to the disgust of the regulars - it propper kicked off during Rollerball Rocco v Tony St Clare (I think), with tables & chairs being slung all over the place including the wrestlers getting stuck in......... bet that wasn't on the script
