What has been noticeable is without Seri we just don't function well playing out from the back. Swansea played on this, pressing us high, and we didn't have the player good enough to take the ball from the keeper and play a pass without taking a touch. Often Allsop had to go long, and we didn't have a player up there who could hold up the ball. Without Seri we need to move the ball quick from back to front, have a focal point to hit, to bring Jaden etc into the game. IMO
Yea, Seri has good and bad moments but I think his absence has been pretty eye opening to just how vital he is to the possession style. He’s the hub that connects all the spokes, take the hub away and the wheel collapses. Morton’s early season form has fallen off a cliff also, he still produces moments of course but he’s not having close to the same consistency or impact he was doing up to around that international break where he had his little goal flurry.
Well, we need 3 points tonight but it won't be easy. I'm expecting a much more positive display but that shouldn't take too much doing. It should be interesting to see if they go at them from the very start, or wait until they go a goal behind, which is what they normally do. When you train a team to pass it around in your own half for 80% of the game and then put the emphasis on attack it won't be easy. It might be a good idea to get 2 or 3 players in the penalty area to prepare for a cross like many other teams do instead of overplaying it on the wings.
Where does he say that? And how much 'older' have delap and philogene got since leaving Preston and Stoke exactly?
I expect a very front foot performance and a comfortably 3-0 victory. LR has been backed fully by the owners and a sold out away following. He needs to now step up now as we are playing a League 1 side in waiting. No ****ing excuses.
Smoking grass tonight,,, might make all the difference... Though hopefully getting the ball quickly from the back to the front (via the middle) and having somebody to move towards the goal and shoot...
Love this. As much as I don’t agree with some of his ideas (e.g. playing out from the back), you wouldn’t get this passion and understanding from other managers. It’s why I want him to succeed. Let’s just go for it at these two Yorkshire derbies and all recent poor games will be forgotten!
Absolutely this. All about our attitude, hard work, & putting a shift in - another potential banana skin if not. Rotherham have managed somehow to beat Coventry, drawn with TWS, Ipswich & Southampton, we need to be on it from the get go, no pussy footing around. Come on you ‘Ull, give the away support something to cheer. UTT.
Traore alongside Morton. Slater at RB if Coyle isn't fit/or as an inverted FB allowing one of Traore or Morton to push on. Some of Morton's best games have come when he's pushed on in to the RW area. Omur in. Philogene back on the LW Tufan on the right hand side. Connolly up top. Any of Zaroury, Carvalho or Philogene could well be dropped IMO. Zaroury loses out in my eyes as Philogene ripped Rotherham a new one on the left at home. Tufan knows how to take pot shots and had one of our only chances against Swansea with that header as he actually gambled on something. Tufan can help guide Omur through the game too. Omur was the only real positive from Swansea and the unknown factor might be beneficial tonight. Tonight isn't make or break but will lay down the marker for what the rest of the season is going to be. We need to get back to what we do so I think some of the newbies need to drop out from the starting 11.
