Wow what a win at Boro very few of us saw that coming
We move onto another very tough side in Saints who are unbeaten for 24 games something that Bristol City will try to end on Tuesday night in front of another 25000 plus crowd.
Liam Manning will have a fantastic headache selecting his team with the likes of Twine and Sykes back and the fantastic display Harry Cornick put in first half.Thought we looked so much more dangerous with him up front he was causing havoc with his pace and runs.-apparently took a knock which is why he was subbed.
Southampton were 2-0 down at home to Huddersfield yesterday but came out 5-3 winner after 90 minutes. This is a side that score for fun so our team needs to be attacking and not trying to defend against Southampton.
I firmly believe the best form of defence is attack.
If we are to get anything from this game we are going to have to play at our very best.
Over to Liam to pick a side that might be able to do that.
Think it will be a great game to watch with two sides that like to play fast attacking football.

I'm really looking forward to this game.
They're Premiership bound and it will be interesting how both sides set up.
I can't believe how well Cornick effected the game yesterday so I'd start him Tuesday. As for the rest it will depend entirely on who's available.......I'm not sure Sykes and Twine will be fit.

Sykes is a big miss, for me he is key in how Liam sets us up to defend from the front and close the defenders/midfielders down. I hope he’s back soon to help kick on to help us get a top 10, or better finish. I feel we are closer to that now than we have been since you know who was in charge.

I agree with your comments RP
IMO, we need to keep the press going, look so much better when we hunt their defenders.......I know it's draining, but with the players we have, it works......We normally have a really good first 25 mins.....but then we allow the opposition unnecessary time on the ball....

We're obviously of the same opinion.
I would love it if we're able to press for more than the first 25minutes.
I don't think it deliberate that we stop pressing it's just we run out of legs.

Admirably, LM tries to get past this problem by numerous substitutions.

We are far better when we're going at teams instead of letting them come on to us.

With Southampton if we are attacking them they are less likely to be at our end scoring <laugh>

    You may well be correct.

However I noticed against Boro and Leeds that we were fine for half an hour and then ran out of legs.
Particularly against Leeds...... with them they also had the quality to 'play through the press' and wonder if another Prem bound side will be the same.

Very likely that Saints can break the press. Where we have to improve is to press home an advantage through goals when we have our spells on top of the game. We are getting better at this in patches as the season progresses, we just need consistency now.

Bell is out of form or confidence, no doubt about it.

They need a win and will want us to press high enabling their superior quality to play through us......as did Leeds.
It will be interesting to see which Manning plan we operate. To sit or press ? A bit of both I reckon.
Anyway Saints aren't that brilliant away from home so I think we'll get a draw....at least.

I think if we sit back they will score for fun-we need to be on the front foot and get at them-let them worry about our pace.
