So missing out on promotion will probably see the likes of Summerville, Rutter, Gruev, Rodon and Ampadu leave. Plus another 46 games in the Championship + EFL Cup, FA Cup and Europa League games. Big quality squad required for a huge amount of games, with the added headache of replacing our aforementioned best players who have left. Definitely promotion over an FA Cup win.
All the above would love the opportunity to play in Europe I'm sure, added to that, we could attract better players to the team. Regardless though, if we get neither. Summerville, quite possibly Rutter, still needs a season at least with us. Gruev, not sure PL clubs will come calling just yet. Rodon, think he'll stay regardless, unless Spuds want stupid money. Ampadu, still think he'll stay regardless
I'd be more worried of Gray leaving honestly. Yes he's signed a big contract but there's some big clubs calling do the 49ers see pound signs and sell. . Regarding Rodon he's not really set the world alight at Spurs plus he's 26 I don't think Spurs will try and do a Brighton and demand a stupid amount of money for him.
I think we'll get another season out of Gray. It seems £10m was the figure mentioned for Rodon, then it seemed to rise to £20m with his performances.
Promotion every time. Why get excited by a cup that no team particularly cares about? For me, promotion offers us 38 cup games in the PL. Every season we're there. Once 'established', we can then start to think about cup runs etc. Practicality trumps fantasy for me.
Promotion for me but a tough call. I don't crave it but realise we need it to progress but Alan Clarkes goal against Arsenal always lifts my spirits to this day. Settle for either if honest
What about if we get the cup final,do we want Eire with his record to go or stay at home ? Love the guy but stay at home for me
Remember, you're a Leeds jinx, so doing that will give them 100% wins in every PL, League Cup, FA Cup, & Champions League Cup game, & score 200+ goals in the process! So, please ..... NO!!!
Though I’m minded to agree with Forza’s reasoning, I think if we won silverware, perhaps many of the players, he names, would relish a taste of Euro football and believe that promotion would be doable next season. For that reason, I’m going with silverware. I know the FA Cups nowhere near as important these days, but I reckon to those who win it, they think differently. I’d love us to experience that.
Promotion every day of the week....even getting promoted via the play-offs is worth any number of FA or EFL cups Next to being in the Premiership, the FA cup is a worthless bauble. We should send the U-21 team to play Chelsea, as the 1st team has far more important games to play.
