No mention yet of what the injury is, just that it’s being reviewed. Initially I thought it might be an impact injury, as he got crunched by a tackle, but the second time he went down I thought he was indicating a problem with his left thigh, so potentially a muscle injury (?).
I agree about the importance of the coming week. However, I would extend it to the following week too - so as to include (1) our game in hand vs Hull, and (2) Leeds' game against Leicester. If in 13 days time, the FT whistle goes at home to Millwall to take us (say) six points clear of Leeds, then that would be a huge advantage to us. But for now, one game at a time.
Yeah I did think about including the Hull game but didn't bother in the end. Leeds Leicester should be interesting too. If we do end up dropping points in next week or so then Leicester can effectively seal the league with a win there as I'm assuming they'll win their next two.
I'd like to note just how much value for money my ST is in the Itchen/Chapel corner. Cheapest in the stadium but am getting a very good view of most of our goals. Poor old Northam end are being starved.
It was amazing that after all the stoppages at 2-3, (and that 13 extra minutes was justified) Huddersfield didn't have any injuries at all once we took the lead. I know all teams do it to a certain degree but yesterday was excessive. Had we been leading by only one goal that extra 13 minutes would have been agony for us and ironically would have been because Huddersfield time wasted so much when they were in the lead.
Booing people (cannot be called fans) are simply an entitled bunch of idiots and need to wind their necks in more. In 60 years of following Saints, I've never come close to booing despite being totally frustrated at times.
Bompey fans somewhat unhappy about Brooks and Rothwell's contributions yesterday. David Brooks | Page 110 | AFC Bournemouth Forum (vitalfootball.co.uk)
They really don’t like us do they? Weird, I’ve always had a soft spot for Bournemouth. Wish them no ill.
It’s a one-sided derby. They resented us whilst we scarcely noted them as far as football was concerned. Younger supporters with more experience of playing them may see them as rivals…hopefully next season
I always follow their results with interest, know the players and went to games when I lived in the area, etc. I think its just some of their fans feel they need a rivalry to be "true" fans; I kind of get that, it's just funny/odd it's one way. Maybe it's because they're local and such a small club in the PL (as they would be in champ tbh) that you cant help but root for them (a bit).
Thoughts from the game. Huddersfields game plan was on point. 3 men at the back and the majority in our half when we took goal kicks forcing us to either pass it short and get pressed or kick it long to one of the shortest attacking lines in the league of che, Adam and frazer. Worked a treat as we made constant mistakes even before downes went down. It just showed Downes importance when he went off that our calm system fell apart. Rothwell. I was saying he was non existent when he came on as he is clearly getting used to the system and clearly not a dm. His finishing however was deadly today. We just need to be cautious if we are looking to him as a dm where he appeared to be playing a lot of the time. (Russel mentioned that smallbone took this position when downes went off but I constantly saw roswell trying to play in from of the defenders and get it wrong) Manning. He gets a lot of stick but firstly his defensive tackle in our box when the striker was in our box was class. It is not helped that stu went in the middle when he should have been offering protection on the left and fraser did not track back leaving him wide open. Also please stop him from taking our corners on the right if noone is going to cover him (kwp in the middle of the pitch is not enough because as soon as they break he drifts back to his rught back slot) Starting line up of the front three. Armstrong has played well on the right but he is not a natural right winger. Too often in the first half kwp would do a class run. Pass it to him short and he would be forced to pass it back. Completely changed with Brooks and Solomana coming on who would turn and face the players or try and overlapping pass with kwp. Che. He works when we have a winger, not when he is supported by Adam. Fraser made of plenty of runs and crosses to the same place. Either che is not running to the cross or frazer is pulling hsi crosses short and needs to find che. Onto the positives Roswell take a bow on finishing. Class volley of the shin and gregarious finish for the second. Bednarek. The only one shouting at people to get in the right positions and not letting his head drop when we were two down. Brooks. Intelligent passes and direct play. Mara. He can be frustrated with his lack of play (only coming on for the final 5 mins) naturally but he is proving his worth now. He is not the finished article by any means but has a good shot and is great at transitioning on the counter. Keep it up. (Interestinf that him edozie, solomana and fraser all play well on the left but struggle on the right) Kwp. How we have kept him I have no idea but he is a joy to watch. Great game and let the good times continue. Finally anyone here making the Liverpool game? I am up in Manchester for work that day. If I can get a ticket. Anyone going up for it fancy meeting for a pint?
