I'm quickly coming to this conclusion too. I can't believe for one minute that the players simply don't know what to do when loads of them have been successful parts of successful teams, yet we still rarely score well worked goals and instead rely on purely individual brilliance to win games. Fortunately we've got a few players that have the ability to do this occasionally, but we shouldn't rely on this because it doesnt always happen. We barely score from corners, crosses, free kicks and we don't score many tap ins either. We've crafted a strong looking side, especially with January additions, yet right now we look no better than our injury struck team from December. We have attacking talent, but we don't seem to prioritise getting the ball to them. In the moments we do, we look like we could cause some damage. Usually we're too casual and lacklustre. I remember today Jones under pressure passes to Alsopp, to Greaves, to Giles, to Greaves, to Jones... Each player getting chased down and successfully passing before they could be dispossessed... But with the ball back to Jones at the end of that passage we'd gained nothing from it and their players were quickly back where they were supposed to be... So what was the point in it? We do it all the time. Philogene is a class player, but today it just seemed like he was trying to see how long he could hold onto the ball for, time after time.
Typical.... City revert to type.....The so called no hopers outfight City for the three points. TBH We'd never score even if we were playing at midnight....Very poor all-round.
Thought Swansea definitely did their homework, they put two players at least on our two wingers, that nullified the danger, they obviously knew our strengths and in all honesty we looked clueless everywhere else. Not having a proper number 9 doesn’t help. A lot to think about for LR because that was well below par. I liked the look of the Omur when he came on obviously early days but overall poor game, out fought, we lacked shots, we simply didn’t look with it. I’m going to try not to dwell to much on it and drown it out with a few beers but knowing me I will be waking up tomorrow analysing it all again. Massive improvement needed for Rotherham.
100% . They pressed us from the start with a high line and we had no idea how to break them down.... Amazing isn't it that those on here who predict big home wins, don't go to the games and don't come back on here to admit they were wrong. Pisses me right off.
Not fair to single out a player from that ****show of a performance but I’m going to anyway. Slater was shockingly bad in midfield. No way should he be starting once Seri returns although I suspect Rosie will squeeze him in somewhere.
Just got home pouring myself a large glass of red . Rosie ball does little for my liver … Swansea played simple high tempo pass and move football , we played our usual unique sort of pass slowly and don’t move football…
This season so far.... At home 16 games we have had: 238 shots at goal = 14.87 per game of which on target = 84 = 5.25 per game (this includes a bigger total v Rotherham) and 35.3% on target percentage Goals 23 = 1.43 goals per game (including 4's v Massive and Rotherham) 27.4% of our on target attempts are goals. Away 14 games 149 shots at goal = 10.64 per game of which on target = 60 = 4.28 per game = 23.33% on target percentage Goals 17 = 1.21 per game 28.33% of our on target attempts are goals Totals 30 games 387 shots at goal = 12.9 per game on target 144 = 4.8 per game = 20.83% on target Goals 40 = 1.33 per game , 27.77% of out on target attempts are goals. I know, I know... Im sat hoping some WD40 is going to work...
Well, didn’t see that coming, I was confident ahead of the game of a comfortable win, Rookie error - Been supporting City long enough to have known better. Swansea did a job on us, snuffed us out, pressed us hard, they were quick to and on the ball, including second balls, doubling up on Philogene. We had no answer, in contrast we were too slow & ponderous, too slow in using the wingers and Allsop distribution. I found Philogene sooo frustrating, I know you see this in young flair players, but when on the ball he just wanted to take everyone on himself, just pass it, let the ball do the work. Rosie must surely have seen what we all saw, but after half time just more of the same. I guess this has to be filed as a bad day at the office, but a change and response has to be made Tuesday. Looked like the players were also over confident and too complacent in their heads. I am struggling to name a MOM. Positve - impeccable Gaul tribute and silence. Very moving.
The original plan was to pass it around until the oppos got bored or tired, they are not doing this , they are there to the end , so we need to think a bit differently , BUT this team needs to gel and maybe some ‘key’ players left out .
He said we deserved nothing and he’s really pissed off, that our energy levels were ****, our desire was **** and we didn’t get the ball forward anywhere near as quickly as we should. I’ve paraphrased, but that’s basically what he said.
