It’s absolutely the correct thing to do, spending so much on green energy when people are unable to put food on the table as the economy is ****ed would be madness. There are much more pressing issues that need investment. Let the tories lap it up, I don’t think many voters are stupid enough to fall for their distraction tactics any more.
I think people are so sick of this lot that Starmer could peel off a mask to reveal Gary Glitter and still be elected ... ... they're an absolute shambles.
Apparently Labour are likely to have the smallest election manifesto in history. Is it not a bit worrying that vast swathes of policy from an almost dead cert winner are simply 'tbc'?
Problem is, if and when Labour get elected, it will take quite a number of years to clear up the mess left behind after 14 years of Tory mis-rule running the country into the ground. Then the Tory apologists on here will be jumping on Labour for not putting the Tories mess right sooner. You couldn't make it up.
Starmer will be like Ashley after he bought Newcastle and sees the actual books for the first time It's obvious the Tories are getting their sabotage in early.
Not sure there was much different when Cameron got in and found the state left by years of Labour personally. Labour supporters didnt want to hear about the recovery mission that was needed. It will be the same this time around. What will be debatable is whether the approach they take to recovery is the right one. There is no doubt we are in a mess and a recovery is needed. The same as when Cameron and Osbourne landed and opted for austerity. The argument was whether austerity was right was a good one, but not those claiming Labour had left a garden of roses. I wish there was a different way to do politics to be honest. There is a degree of tribalism to it which helps nobody other than MPs. The country has been at is best when there has been a degree of consensus politics but I dont believe we will see the like of that again.
The problem is they dont need to have a plan. They will win by not losing. The tories are a mess and cannot be re-elected. The media dont want to give air time to the lib dems. We are left looking at a landslide labour govt but no clarity on what will change or how it will change. I used to think voter apathy was a major threat. It is hard to be critical now. My son wont vote, says there is nothing worth voting for so would rather not bother. It is all a bit sad isnt it. I have some faith in some labour MPs and my hope is once in power they are able to standup and speak and share ideas. There are some good folk there who care and get it. Whether Starmer wants to listen is my worry. He does seem a my way or the highway sort of leader.
There's something undeniable here. For Labour to be elected, if they're really as bad as you and others say ... ... the current administration must be much worse.
Penny Mordaunt is a smart woman, simultaneously praising Sunak while making him look cheap. She's gradually emerging as their best hope for a future credible leader. "Mordaunt urges Sunak to ‘reflect’ after trans joke angers Brianna Ghey’s family Penny Mordaunt has urged Rishi Sunak to “reflect” on a controversial transgender joke he made while the mother of murdered trans teenager Brianna Ghey was visiting parliament. The Leader of the House of Commons was responding to Shadow Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell in parliament on Thursday, 8 February. “The Prime Minister is a good and caring man. I’m sure that he has reflected on things and I understand he will say something later today or perhaps even during this session,” she said. “And that is not just about Mr and Mrs Ghey that he should reflect on, but I’m sure he is also reflecting about people who are trans or who have trans loved ones and family, some of whom sit on these green benches.” Mr Sunak had accused Keir Starmer of being incapable of “defining a woman” and later refused to apologise for the jibe."
I wouldnt deny that at all. The tories are woeful. On top of that they are tearing themselves apart. Labour will probably have some kind of majority without needing a prop up deal. They will have that irrespective it seems of any policy. It just feels a poor show when any party can come to govern without actually doing so off the back of ideas and policy. Shame on the tories for that. But I would like to see something from Labour to hope for better times ahead.
It's 'anyone but' syndrome like we now see in football. Absolutely anyone would be better than *insert manager here* Worse manager rocks up. We can't have political parties winning by default. It'll be the tories winning by default in a few year's time.
Agree mate. I just dont know what the answer. Politics has got worse and worse over the years. We deserve something better for sure. My kids certainly deserve something better.
Labour finally withdraw support for their Rochdale candidate. Too slow in my opinion. A really poor look earlier in the day to be supporting him.
Was always going to happen, bloke's an idiot. Sadly I suspect a fair few people agree with what he's saying because of how Israel are behaving. The whole thing is disgusting and medieval.
It wouldn’t surprise me if there are handful more greens and a good few more Lib Dems so some of the opposition will be refreshing. I hope that Labour become more progressive when elected than they’re looking now, which is possible but I suspect finances alone will restrict forward thinking. Time to get our hands on some of that untouchable wealth to help the normal people.
