Carl Weathers has died. Which means I have to talk about how fantastic he is in Rocky II. He's the bad guy, and a very good one, but he plays it so haunted by the result in the original film you very nearly sympathise for him. It's like he's got PTSD.
The coach from Happy Gilmore is what I associate him with the most. Seemed to be a good bloke and had some genuinely iconic roles. Jonnie Irwin from A Place in the Sun died today too. Only 50. It was admirable how he dealt with it, showed spirit and defiance to the last.
"Apollo Creed verses the Italian Station..... SOUNDS LIKE A DAMN MONSTER MOVIE". Grew up watching Predator, Rocky etc. Another one gone. RIP
Watched Haunt today, I see pretty much every horror going and aren't often impressed but this was a good one. Never heard of it before the marketing team must have been on holiday. Thought it was going to be a bit teeny from the age of the cast but it's as mean and nasty as it gets. One for fans of Hostel and Saw I'd say. On Netflix.
Years ago in the 90s there was a film State of Grace, mob type film. Absolutely brilliant but I’ve never seen it mentioned anywhere since then. Well worth trying to download.
Watched Saltburn on Friday night. Very good but absolutely bonkers. Could have done without the final scene
I’ve seen it get slated but I liked it. There are scenes set up to shock (bathtub, grave, the lass, the end etc) but I found it funny not horrifying. The actor is great at playing creepy, strangely likeable blokes. Destined to play a young Hannibal Lector.
Good comparison with Hopkins, they are similar in a way. Both steal every scene they're in regardless of who else is in it and both can project thoughts and feelings without seeming to do anything with their face. Acting with your eyes they call it, something only the best can do.
Anyone watched Free Solo without having sweaty palms after, never seen a better piece of athleticism in my lifetime had to be perfect, brilliant documentary film
It's a horror director doing that new one with Ridley Scott so expect a lot more jupmy bits. belters the Alein movies. They're coming out of the god damn waaaaallllssss
