Here’s a policy everyone on here can get behind, except the odd tax dodger among us https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2-beyDoLx0/?igsh=MWVqd2F0OWhicDZxZA==
So you think Trump is a safe bet to hang our economic hat on? You’re even defending Trump ffs as well as your incompetent mates. But Labour, but Biden (I think Biden is shocking by the way but he hasn’t organised a march against democracy)
To be fair, 2 of those 4 years were spent dealing with Covid, the next 2 years will be spent sorting out the mess they made over the Covid years. I hate the Tories but could could never vote for Labour, they have been infiltrated by extremist muslim and trans lunatics. Starmer is a snake and would finish off the destruction of our country in a year. Labour started the fall from grace of our once great country, the Tories made it worse and now Labour will most likely complete the destruction of the UK. If a general election was called today I could not vote for anyone, its time for Reform
To be fair the promises continued well after the Covid crisis. It can't be the default excuse for everything forever.
Sadly I think it will be an excuse, not the only one, but an excuse for years to come. Excuse is the wrong word probably, Covid is a reason for challenges now and will continue to be so. Again, not the only reason or excuse of course. The long term impacts of lockdowns are yet to be seen, particularly on school kids. I have family who are still suffering terrible health consequences as a result of Covid. There are impacts that will need to be dealt with for years to come yet I was quite pleased to see Sunak say he had failed. (I also saw Keegan say the govt hadnt done as well as it wanted. Bit of positioning pre election I suspect, bit of humility.) Not so much because of the strikes, which account for about 3% of the waiting list I believe. Looking at the latest modelling waiting lists will peak in August 24, before starting to fall, irrespective of further industrial action. Underlying that is some interesting trends though. The number of referrals has now reached the level it was pre covid, and is growing faster than those times. The NHS is treating more patients than those times too, it just cant keep pace with the accelerating referral rate. Maybe one of the factors the govt didnt grasp when setting the target was how many folk deferred while the pandemic was on. Catch up time now it seems.
That's a good point and, of course, the waiting lists were getting much longer in the year before Covid ... ... this current administration just isn't very good at things. I'm not sure how much is deliberate and how much is incompetence.
And another rat jumps from the stinking ship... Kwasi Kwarteng, whose career as chancellor under Liz Truss was even shorter than hers as prime minister, because she sacked him after his mini-budget triggered the economic turmoil that brought down her government, has announced he is standing down as an MP at the next election. Majority 18,393.
Liz Truss has lost the plot... still banging on about New Conservatism. A grass root's challenge from below. Something planned for the next 6 month's?
I defy anybody watching her interviews whilst in the hot seat thinking she is anywhere near being compos mentis. She is truly deranged.
She thinks the UK is full of secret conservatives. She might be right. I think this thread is full of secret conservatives
Everyone who doesn't think Magic Grandad was the one true king is a secret conservative. Not my rules.
I read the Guardian article... https://amp.theguardian.com/politic...but-is-united-in-criticism-of-sunaks-policies I see Lee Anderson is desperate to hang onto his seat... The former Conservative party vice-chair Lee Anderson attacked the government over its approach to net zero. He called for coal mines to be reopened in the north of England and for people to be able to choose whether to pay green levies on their energy bills. “We’re burning coal in our power stations but it’s foreign coal,” he said. “How is that contributing to net zero? It’s an absolute nonsense.” He also said his constituents weren’t “lying awake at night worrying about net zero”.
For some reason I'm always drawn to her tits... obviously she isn't very good at getting her message across, so opts for the eye candy approach to popularity
