For all the talk of how good we were in the first 20 minutes and eased off after that, we didn't actually create a chance of note in the entire game. The goal was a bit of a weird one ultimately coming from a very well taken long shot. I've said similar about opposition teams who've beaten us without creating much this season. We played very well in some respects, but in other ways I think we were lucky to come away with the win. 0.45 xG I think it was; barely higher than Millwall's. I don't think this is a new problem and I also don't think it's as simple as just being more positive nor is it necessarily the fault of the playing style. LR mentioned that he felt we maybe subconsciously got too comfortable and I've wondered along these lines before. When we've conceded goals whilst totally on top, is it because we've subconsciously dropped our intensity a bit and missed the chance to break up the play before it was too late? On Saturday there was a point where Carvalho and Philogene were pulling out the tricks in tandem and more or less taking the piss out of Millwall. But it was only 1-0 and we'd not come anywhere close to killing them off. It's well documented that players enjoy playing in this team with its control of the ball and superiority over the opposition in almost every game we play, maybe they need to learn to enjoy it a little bit less almost, and make sure they're getting the result first and foremost.
Alsopp has had little to do in our last couple of games. I don't want to see the cut in from the right anymore.
Maybe he will get a level of confidence back again like he previously had also with the new players that may also help, we will need every player we have to get to the finish line which is hopefully Wembley.
He wasn't **** at all for us. At the end of that 16/17 season it was absolutely obvious that he along with Maguire and Robertson would move to another PL team following our relegation because they'd all had brilliant seasons.
Of all the signings, Ohio is massively important for me Simply because he is a replacement for Delap. On Saturday we didn’t create many chances but got a very important win. Of late before Delaps injury I thought LR had worked on the defence but we were actually attacking more at pace. Delap obviously had a massive part to play it that, his hold play was good but he also turned and went direct at teams. At the moment we have some excellent upfront players but none what I would say do the job Delap did. They are different and for me would feed off someone like Delap brilliantly. However he is not there and for that reason I think if Ohio, who looks as though he as pace, can get to grips with holding that ball up and just add that bit more physical presence which we don’t really have then it would make a huge difference to us.
I felt Ohio showed he had that in his cameo, albeit its too soon to say. It was going to be hard to judge anyways with how deep we'd started playing at that point.
Agree with this. Think Delap is unique in the sense he can beat players whilst still being good with his back-to-goal and being able to bully centre-halves. If Ohio is quick and decent with his back-to-goal, I think that'll make a big difference even without the extra qualities Delap has. Also think Connelly will be a big boost when fit, again because his movement is good and he plays on the shoulder - gives something for teams to worry about going the other way.
Agree with this PLT and the dropped points this season whether defeats or draws have really come put of complacency... I think only Ipswich have really done a number on us this year!!!

we have had 15 games this season that we scored one goal and 4 games we have not scored in 10 games we have 2 or more goals compare that to the other promotion seasons we have had from the championship and it is quite good so not really a lot wrong we are on track.
Hopefully he will have and do well here, if not I’m sure we will find a way around it with the quality we now have, but what a bonus it would be if given time he can get anywhere near Delaps performances.
We are for sure.... but the dropped points have come as a result of defensive errors and maybe just maybe not putting games to bed and inviting late pressure... Goals given away late in games and dropped points for sure... nearly happened again on Saturday.,..,,
So we are saying we should score more goals to make allowance for the bad defensive errors, so basically the attack has created the opportunity to score and take the lead done it’s job but our defence is a liability with it’s errors so the attack should create more and score more to allow for this. Probably simpler to just sort the defence out so the attack does not have to carry them then.
how it’s what the posts are saying all about attack not creating enough to score more and defensive errors.
We should be trying to create more chances full stop and with the attacking options we have I honestly think it'll come naturally with a bit more time and even quicker if we made more effort to keep a high tempo. I think it's a combination of tactics/mentality and the players themselves almost going into cruise control which is causing us not to maximise this. If we created more chances up top that should lead to more goals as a byproduct and a further byproduct would be taking the pressure off making the odd defensive mistake. They're inevitable unfortunately and there's no way to cut them out entirely. I don't think anybody is saying we should ignore potential defensive frailties. I'm not even saying we need to change the playing style in attack necessarily - that would need to become the focus, in my opinion, if we don't see an improvement in chance creation once the new lads have settled in.
