If he was missing chances then id agree with the confidence issues, but he's not even having a single effort on goal and not putting himself in goalscoring positions. He has absolutely no movement at all. Some strikers are bad finishes but know how to put themself in dangerous areas, he has absolutely nothing at all going for him. Im still pished off he got the nod over Rusyn yesterday. We all saw how much of a difference he made when he came on with his constant running and pressuring the defence. He done more in half an hour than Burstow done all game. Could you imagine Burstow getting a bloody mouth from being elbowed harrasing their fullback for the ball?
Taking a step back and looking at things, perhaps through rose-tinted glasses, this is what I think. This is a very young squad of players, some rejects, some foreign, etc, who have now had three totally different managers/systems/atmospheres to deal with. I'm assuming Beale has decided to wipe the slate clean, give everyone a new chance and not go in slapping people around. He seems to be going easy on the squad until he's settled in. That may not be the 'di Canio style of things' but it may last longer. It's never being the new guy in charge, especially when the previous incumbent seems to have been everyone's favourite uncle with an arm round their shoulder. It may be blind faith but that's what I believe.
Thanks for that interesting reply Markus, I know zero about photography, worst experience was my last trip to sea , I borrowed my sisters camera and took two reels of film some great memories recorded. Sent the pics to be developed, result 36 blanks. I had left the lens cover on, it still hurts. .
Reminds me of just before Christmas when I drew the curtains because I thought the security light was going on and off with the wind. When I watched Scotland News, the next morning, the first item was how spectacular the Northern Lights had been
I couldn't agree more mate, football is a game best played when it's kept simple ... as Shanks almost said. The lads seem confused and hesitant, at times, and really miss someone like Evans in the middle. Neil would be perfect if he was three/four years older and O'Nien if he wasn't in charge of the Alamo at the back. So we often appear to freeze for periods or the whole match as happened in the Cup Tie. I remember Evans being declared a waste of a shirt, at a time when we wanted all out attacking football. He'd just keep a grip on the game plan, marshall the midfield and do the simple things as quickly and calmly as possible. Dack, imo, would have fulfilled a role although I know that's not a popular view ... ... I think we can do better but he's a specific kind of player who's not easy to find. I'd rather develop our own players, into these roles, and I think they're capable because of their versatility. I suggested Hume, a year back, as the Evans understudy as he's a tackler and happy on both sides. Seelt looks like he could play anywhere and Aouchiche has huge talent and ambition. Who knows what Hjelde, Mundle, Styles can bring to the table.
Couldn't put it better myself clocky, I thought he was going all the way and score goal of the season yesterday. He is a completely different player now than he was way back when we first bought him I would like to see him tried as the defensive midfielder. I wonder if they have tried this out in training and decided he's better as a central defender ?
I love onien’s enthusiasm and don’t think he’s a bad player but I wonder how many other teams in the league he’d be a starter for as a centre half!
We had our good spells, in the first half, but were lucky not to go behind. We allowed them too many shots and corners, only two shots and a corner for us. We were wide open, for their goal, when we should've been concentrating on defence. Who was marking their scorer ffs!!! It's obvious we need a CDM, do we actually have a recruitment team? Our substitutions affected us badly and the manager has to take the blame for disrupting the team and allowing them back into the game, they could've won it as we were in disarray. We were poor in front of goal and missed some good chances although we didn't trouble their keeper much, no surprise as we have a stand in centre forward who's only scored a handful of goals in his career. Why didn't we sign a striker, Moore was avaliable on loan! The owner is a good football man but seems to have very little ambition, we can't keep selling off our best players and bringing in inferior replacements. And how come we have so many injuries all the time, what are they doing in training. We're just treading water this season, mid-table and no real chance of the play-offs. Unless we have a good summer window next season will be just the same and people will lose interest. Gibson out!!! Just wondering what it's like to be a Boro fan this morning
I went on a cruise when I was 13, my mam bought me a camera for the trip. When she took the films to get developed all excited she got 36 photos of seagulls from the boat
"I enjoy every minute of playing for Sunderland and pulling on the shirt. For me, the stuff that gets said on the outside doesn't seem to bother me. "As long as I'm coming in everyday wearing a Sunderland shirt, I'm happy." Clarkes comments after the game well played kiddo Love it
