Has Oli even got a squad number? - are rumours that he's due a big pay cheque if he pays another game wide of the mark? Can't believe he's been injured for all this time. Either way need to move Harper on if only to free up the wage bill a little
I think a move to League 1 would suit Harper, albeit with a side who look like they'll be in the Championship next season. He'd provide good experience for Charlton in their promotion bid but not sure he'd be much good to them in this league if they have ambitions to replicate Southampton, Norwich or TWS once they are promoted.
Does he need a lift? Neither Garcia, nor Olofinjana, are listed in the squad on the OWS, but I'm sure they'll have numbers pencilled in ready.
Depends on which way you look at it. Oli is on £20k a week, and I have it on good authority (the man himself) that his basic wage is £6k. (He was moaning because his Sheff Utd wage was about £12k ) Anyway, Oli might be a lot better but as far as I know, he's still considered to be 'outside' of our budget, like McShane. I don't know whether we'll keep him beyond January, and if we let both go we'll be severely lacking in depth.
Clearly a fit Oli would be an asset to us for the rest of the season. Better to play for us than loan him out again to one of our possible rivals for a playoff spot and for us to be still paying the bulk of his 24k a week salary (as we did last year with Cardiff) Chance that a PL club could take a punt on him but can't see it.
Oli still isn't very good though. People think because he's been injured ages we must be missing him but given that McKenna, Koren, Cairney and Evans are all better than him, I don't know what the fuss is about. Like with the other big earners, we'd be best off getting rid.
I beg to differ, he's sound technically and definitely knows how to score, and even though he's a big softy, offers some presence and MUCH NEEDED HEIGHT in midfield and at set pieces. Think he would be a good addition to our squad if I'm honest, as long as we don't play him like he's some sort of Frank Mir/Brock Lesnar animal of a midfielder who we expect to snap people in half and break bones.
Agree with your last line but not convinced about the rest. He's been injured for a while so he'll take a while to get back to his best, but I would have to say that he's at least better than Evans. Still, I'd have Cairney and Evans in there ahead of Oli and the two of them have far more potential than an aged Nigerian. We need some experience in the side but I'm not convinced he should be part of that.
I'm with ISPLT on this one. I think we should get rid of Oli as soon as possible. His tackling was non-existent and his passing was hit and miss (mostly miss). He is tall though, I'll give him that. For the money he is on I think we could get a far better player
If we do keep him, I'd be tempted to play him as a striker, he's got a decent strike on him and he can head a ball, a big presence up front might be handy.
Don't you think Oli up front would be exactly the same as Adebola? Although it's been that long since I've seen him play, I can't remember how fast he moves.
