I have zero sympathy for Sheff Utd. They deserve to be trashed here, and in every future game, for thinking that Holgate is anywhere close to being the answer.
Ah I actually feel bad for Holgate. He isn’t too blame for this scoreline. But he also is not very good.
He’s apparently in a back 5 as well which in theory should offer additional protection but as we often found can lead to lots of confusion unless you are used to the system
I will remember his performance v WBA very fondly so I don't take any pleasure in Holgate suffering this at all.
With our sorts of records being broken at the top end of the Championship this season - which will result in at least one side being left very unfortunate come May - it's infuriating to think that the standard of the Championship last season was at such a level that Sheff Utd finished 2nd quite comfortably.
I think we will spend pretty heavily in the summer if we go up. I think with Leicester, Leeds and us up… it could be a really tough Premier league season.
Leaving ourselves with one reserve CB is taking a risk though. And we don't even have spare RB who can fill in for KWP on Tuesday.
I was listening to it on the radio, sounds like the plan from Sheffield United was to draw Villa on to them and counter. Problem being you need a competent defence to do that.
