We didn’t do enough in the window to suggest we can expect a top 10 finish. Which is a shame, as we are close with Liam’s stewardship, but as you say, if he doesn’t have the quality to work with, his hands are tied.
I thought Max did ok. If even half the outfield players did their jobs as well as he did, we’d have got a point. A very poor effort from the outfield 10 tbh, none of them can say they played well.
In our defence we played Tuesday, when was their last game. Leeds are the last team you want to play after such a quick turn around.
Neither did NP, the only HC backed was you who. Being tired had absolutely nothing to do with tonight's result. We can't trap cement, our passing, continually gifting possession to them, was beyond a joke and as for Tanner...... We chased quality all night.
Much of that was due to Leeds closing us down so quickly and giving us no time on the ball. They were just much quicker, agreed though it wasn’t helped by our passing being so poor.
From the Tanner mistake in the first half we were second best, lost control became bad passing and decision making.. all went downhill from there.. Had it not been for Max it could have been a lot worse.. We looked a tad better with the subs but the momentum of Leeds dominance was difficult for our team. Leeds wanted it more than us, now 2nd in championship..
Definitely not a night to be proud of and if ever there was a single game that showed how far away we are from being an annual contender in the Championship this was the one. Sad but oh so true.
Teams will suss us out that we are poor playing the ball out from the back and will close us down. Tanner can’t pass forward, we rarely make the opposition penalty area, and when we do our shots are powderpuff, no wonder we don’t score goals
Tanner was poor tonight, I have to say he’s seemed to have pushed on really well this season, but tonight he was really poor.
You wasn't blown away because we waste to many chances, that's why we have struggled to win matches we have drawn/lost over the season....TBF if you had been playing in white tonight you'd have been disappointed to have not scored more than the one ...if we go up we may struggle but there's one fact you didn't mention, you won't have that problem
Well and truly shown how to play fast attacking football tonight. Leeds were a different level to us-1-0 does not do the game justice. Manning playing Knight is that position is unfair on him. Almost pedestrian going forward so slow-Leeds were like 100metre sprinters when they attacked us. Manning has won 5 in 18 games so far -relegation form. Look what’s up next Boro away then Southampton at home yikes another two hard games. When NP was dismissed the Lansdowns wanted improvements so far the results don’t show that. Tinman says on the radio tonight driving home big signings coming in the next window-he says they know what they need. On tonights showing we need major surgery if we are serious of a top six push next season.
Supercon like to comment- #BristolCity Season So Far: NP&CF - P15 W6 D3 PTS=21 LM - P15 W4 D5 PTS=17 #asyouwere
At first I thought there must have been a deflection for their goal. I can't see it, can anyone ? The ball hits the middle of the goal. Max, inexplicably dived past the ball.
Firstly, LM has had no money to spend, Nige had millions in the summer. Secondly, Nige is the all experienced manager, and LM is an up and coming manger, yet their records are almost identical. That is why I was underwhelmed by NP. Glad you you pointed this out for everyone to see, the experienced manager who spent millions, is 4 points better off than the young pup given nothing to spend.
NP had quite a lot to spend relative to the market and our financial position during his time. Obviously not as much as the previous guy, but the world, and football finances were in a very different place then. So it’s not an apples for apples comparison
