Great stuff from the lads tonight. Everyone sharp and on their game, quick passing at the back early doors helped keep the tempo high and Bristol just couldn't live with that. Once we got the goal full credit to the opposition for pushing forward and giving it a good go which lead to Meslier having to make a great save to secure the 3 points. All in all a fantastic away performance
It's comedy gold how brother Emu keeps finding ways to justify Firpo being the worst player on the pitch though
Well and truly shown how to play fast attacking football tonight. Leeds were a different level to us-1-0 does not do the game justice. Manning playing Knight is that position is unfair on him. Almost pedestrian going forward so slow-Leeds were like 100metre sprinters when they attacked us. Manning has won 5 in 18 games so far -relegation form. Look what’s up next Boro away then Southampton at home yikes another two hard games. When NP was dismissed the Lansdowns wanted improvements so far the results don’t show that. Tinman says on the radio tonight driving home big signings coming in the next window-he says they know what they need. On tonights showing we need majorsurgery if we are serious of a top six push next season.
After watching you against W Ham and Forest, I thought tonight would be tight, the score line was but the performances weren't . Couldn't believe how easily we took the ball from you at times and your passing was mostly woeful. Those 2 Cup games you looked full of running and confidence and very tight at the back on the whole ,everything you weren't tonight, perhaps a game too far. Anyway good luck, you seem a decent set of lads on your board.
It looks like it's Ipswich that have blown it. Your real rivals for an auto place are Saints. It's going to be one of you two plus Leicester. Hope it's Farke obviously. We were crazy to sack him!
What was glaringly obvious is how much anxiousness the lad is carrying. His celebration after the goal, how he feared going up to the away fans at the end, and how he had to be man handled and forced to do so by Rutter and Summerville. It was a case of he didn’t want to because he feared the reaction he would get, he couldn’t read the mood, he has been so badly managed by his agent, a very young head on those shoulders. At the end the players and Farke gave him huge admiration, he is obviously loved by the team. Seeing the lads actions after he scored and at the end of the game, if we get behind him I’m sure he’ll return to his best.
If you look back at the last few games I've rated Firpo highly. Let's not pretend I've been slating him during this period you mention. I've given him consistent praise recently. Regarding tonight, yeah, I thought he was poor. His passing was poor and if we are honest, Bristols best opportunities to hit us on the break came from Firpo giving the ball away in dangerous positions. Luckily for us they never took advantage and blew their chances with poor passing and bad decisions themselves. His performance last night wasn't as good as he has been. Do I have to talk about the square on defending at the end of the first half on the edge of the box which again resulted in a free kick in a dangerous area. It was only half a yard from a penalty concession. The 2nd half he did it again further up the field and should have been booked on both occasions. To sum up, he's been really good the last few games (especially going forward) but last night he was poor in attack and had two brain farts at the back. He made some good blocks at the edge of the area so not too low a score if you consider that a 6/10 is par. It wasn't his worst but there was a drop off from his recent form. Hopefully he's back to his attacking best in the next one. The ratings are on a single game itself, not a run of 6 games. He has been good recently but not quite at the races last night. That's fine by the way, it's OK to have games where the passes don't quite work. As long as it doesn't turn in to 10 games in a row then he's good to go.
As for Gnonto. Did anyone think he had a good first half last night? He worked hard enough but he is still miles away from the Gnonto that burst on to the scene last year. @ristac rightly addresses the fact that he has looked like a lad with the weight of the world on his shoulders since his rat activities in the summer. 2nd half he managed to get a goal and you saw that cloud lift and the emotion came out. For 20 minutes he had that spark about him again before his energy levels crashed. Gnonto was **** first half, very timid. That goal though might just turn his form and confidence around and he could be like a new signing boost to push us to promotion. The fans were great with him too and hopefully that built a few bridges and it reconnects somewhat. Personally, he refused to play for us and the sooner he leaves the better, the rat.
I thought his work at the outset was brilliant and set the foundations for the promotion push. A promotion push wasn't guaranteed given the chaos of last summer. This is football though and his initial work is forgotten by alot of fans and in the media and Farke will be judged on whether Leeds go up or not. The pressure on him will multiply next season if we are still in the Championship. We've gone through frustrating times this season but we are averaging 2 points a game right now. If anyone expects more than that then that's a very high expectation. If we get 92 points (2 points a game) then historically it's always been enough to go up automatically. Surely it will be enough again?
What a lovely feeling this morning, five wins on the bounce. High point of the night undoubtedly was Willys man of the match performance, goal and fully reintegration into the side. Don’t you just love the championship
Funny old game, thought Firpo was decent defensively tonight and despite being quiet when attacking thought he had a pretty solid game 7/10. Think Meslier probably deserved a mark higher as he made a couple of saves to keep us in it and kept a clean sheet. Very harsh on Bamford, thought he was very good tonight and with his runs caused them lots of issues. Feel like he could’ve had a goal of two if it wasn’t for Summervilles greed on a few occasions.
Yeah, Bamford had a funny night. I alluded to the fact that he didn't get much service. He made some good runs behind to give the likes of Summerville and Georginio space to work but ultimately thought Paddy was quiet.
Nope I posted that willy should be taken off at h/t he was dire...but Herr farke stuck with him and he was rewarded with him ultimately getting the winner, swings and roundabout decisions that basically you either or with....a fully firing gnonto will surely be an asset in the coming weeks, he may be a rat but at the moment he's still our rat, the others followed the pied piper
Yes it's the best league in Europe. I have non league this afternoon which is very friendly and easily affordable.
Most of what you've posted was my thoughts too, I text a mate at half time and said he needs subbing, his first touch was awful, caught out of position a few times too. Like you, I'm hoping the goal and the fans reaction will be the catalyst of him discovering the form he had when he got here. Now call me naive but I'm prepared to forgive him for what went on in the summer, 19 being strongly influenced by a ****e agent, club in disarray , I can easily see why he was being swayed. He always celebrates with great enthusiasm when we score, even when on the bench, had the great sense to sack his agent, I honestly think he knows he made a big dick (pun intended) of himself and is trying to make amends.
