But I was told players who are injured dont have their loans cut short.

Amazing how some can still set LR up for failure after that window and don't even need me involved to waste pages going back and forth on a hypothetical that won't even happen.

We obviously think it's in our or our player's interest to do so.?

And besides, his injury might not be potentially season ending - which would be the key difference.

With Shota being at Karagümrük, it might be worth keeping an eye on the Turkish transfer window closing next week.

Not everyone's deadline day for incomings is Jan 31st.

But whatever the situation is, there was no talk of anyone other than Giles or Jacob spoken of as left back options going forward in Liams pre match presser today,

But crucially, the loan recall option was ours, and not Shrewsbury's.

They didnt 'cancel' it to free up some mythical 'loan spot'. We recalled him in our own interest.

:emoticon-0100-smile Maybe he'll restrict himself to just one post per conversation from now on !
No more having to explain his every post myriads of times ?
    No rocking the boat now.

Delap's is potentially not season ending either.

Regardless, the way you and Shark reacted to the suggestion it might be in both clubs' interests for an injured Delap to go back to Man City was over the top and it's funny that only a day later an injured player has come back to us from a loan proving the exact point that sometimes clubs do see it as the best option.

Just catching up on the live 1904 podcast from tonight. One bit that stood out to me was Tan talking about how he's good friends with Carvalhos agent and 'they had a very good conversation in the summer that they couldn't conclude, but hopefully we will conclude in the summer'. I'm sure he's talking about Drameh, who we were briefly linked with before he moved to Birmigham. Would be a great bit of business if we can pick up on a free transfer next window!

Below are all the players he's agent for, so it can't really be anyone else

Not really, it just wasn't realistically going to happen given the fee we're paying, that he got injured with us, and that they can't loan him out
    Anywhere else.

There are reasons why players want to come here and the manager is definitely one of the main ones. He has played a primary role in creating the mentality and the style, whilst Acun has created the passion and belief that this club now exudes, and to his incredible credit, Acun has backed Rosenior to the hilt. The management and the owners are a quite formidable combination rarely seen in football. I would imagine so, anyway.

What Tan said about development was reassuring that it's not just a short term gig.

Baz’s article last week reassured me. He explained that before any piece of transfer business, they consult with the EFL to ensure they aren’t going to fall foul of FFP. Acun and Tan are very shrewd operators, who seem to be way ahead of the field.

I recommend listening to the live 1904 podcast

Tan covered a few things regarding FFP, the Philogene deal, and a few things regarding the transfer window.

The club are in a probation period of 3 years, 1 year is left, from what Tan was saying it means extra scrutiny on the business plan and all financials, currently all deals are sent to the EFL to approve.

In Tan’s own words this is to prove they are not just some crazy Turks from abroad :emoticon-0102-bigsm I got the feeling after this year it might give the club a bit more freedom to be creative financially?

In regards to the Philogene deal, he is 100% a Hull City player and Villa only have the ability to activate the buy back clause if we’re in the premier league AND no other club makes a higher bid.

If Aston Villa were to try activate the buy back Tan hinted that due to the ‘network’ of clubs we have strong relationships with there would be a higher bid than the fee agreed with Villa. (nudge nudge wink wink)

Tan wanted to stress there is a good relationship with clubs like Villa, they offered Calum Chambers to us, Tan told them it wasn’t possible as we didn’t have the finances for it, Villa then offered to cover the majority of it as they wanted clubs like us to be competitive. (Maybe increasing the chances of them getting Philogene back) :emoticon-0136-giggl

Tan mentioned Oscar leaving was very important for FFP this window.

They admitted they made mistakes with transfers but stressed their philosophy is to fix mistakes as quickly as possible so they don’t have long term burdens, which to be fair they have done mostly.

Lots more was covered, there was a funny bit about FFP and Acun reading everyone panicking on Twitter about it which then caused Acun to make the club double check everything. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

We’re in safe hands, they are a serious organisation with a LOT of people behind the scenes. Tan especially is very impressive.

Edit: Tan has given up trying to negotiate with HCC, said they were not being proactive enough in regards to the stadium development. Nothing new there. Useless bunch.

Any idea what the Probationary period is? When Baz referred to us seeking approval from the EFL, I assumed it was a voluntary arrangement?
Tan says we’re two years into it, so I wonder if all new owners have to undergo it?

To be honest, I hope it doesn't give us more freedom to be 'creative', I'd be more than happy for us to continue running every deal past the EFL. After all, if we're doing nothing wrong and within the rules we have nothing to hide. It'd mean transparency and confidence in ownership can continue.

In regards to Philo, I seem to recall getting into a debate on Twitter (I know, how unlike me) where I insisted that we didn't have to accept 15m from everyone just because that's Villa's buy back, and we could get much more from other clubs so long as Philogene was happy to go there, so glad that's confirmed.

Interesting comment on Chambers, that feels verging on collusion but not quite sure how much that already happens behind the scenes.

    Love Acun doing that. <laugh>

I would guess all new ownership groups in the last few years have had to oblige with this after the issues with Bury/Derby/Reading/etc. I would also think it may have something to do with the embargo we were under post-COVID.

This seems such an obvious thing to do, it makes you wonder why others haven’t?
Presumably they’ve known they had issues but iust crossed their fingers and hoped they’d get away with it?
