Four straight league wins in 2024 have put the Whites back into contention for the automatic places, but face a Robins team desperate for a win. With one win in their last seven (from all competitions), Bristol City Manager Liam Manning must be feeling the pressure. He only joined the Red side of Bristol in November, and having now slipped to 13th, will be praying for a return to form against a Leeds side who netted thirteen, and conceded twice. The two sides last met early October, when goals from James and Piroe gave the Whites a slender 2-1 victory at Elland Road. The last time City beat Leeds was back in September 2016, Marlon Pack doing the damage on the hour mark. please log in to view this image Daniel James and Pascal Struijk will miss the visit to Ashton Gate. James picked up a knock against Preston, which led to the Welshman being substituted at half time; whilst Struijk hasn't recovered from his groin strain. According to Farke, the skipper is responding well to treatment, and should be back in contention in a fortnight. There's better news for Archie Gray and Cryscencio Summerville. Both were carrying knocks, but have been passed fit, and available for selection. Junior Firpo is preferred to Sam Byram at left back, and with Gray fit again, may have to make do with a place on the bench. Wilfred Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony will fight it out for Dan James place on the right wing. Ever present midfielder Ethan Ampadu is likely to drop to centre back, alongside fellow Wales star Joe Rodon, allowing Elia Gruev more game time in midfield.
Think we've a good chance of getting beat. We've not really been that great the last couple of games and Bristol will be well up for it. And we seem to bottle it when we get a sight of auto promotion spots. Tough game. A point would be a good point.
Thought Bristol City were decent at our place earlier in the season but results haven't gone particularly well for them since replacing Nigel Pearson. Hard fought Leeds 2-0 win, or maybe 2-1 as we usually concede away from home.
Comfortable win, 0-2 to Leeds. I’d feared Summerville and Gray would be out, great news that they’re fit. We’re the away team, we don’t need to go gung-ho, Bristol will have a go which will suit us
Good record against/at Bristol... ...however we had a bad record at Millwall and Cardiff and won those 2 comfortably. Probably be a defeat then!
Evening guys my take on your visit tomorrow night Well still not won in the championship in 2024 a tad concerning i would say-Liam Manning has certainly changed the style of play which is great on the eye. However scoring goals is a big problem. Clearly not creating enough decent chances for our strikers and very weak up front in terms of quality. For me Knight is not a playmaker and needs to be played in his correct position-Sam Bell is not really producing and creating-Amis Mehmeti cannot go past players-Nahki Wells is nowhere near the player of a few years ago looks slow and disinterested. We crave freshness up front and hopefully with Twine and Sykes coming back we can start scoring. As it stands i think we are two players short of becoming a real threat. Goalkeeper-Striker-required. Leeds will come to Ashton Gate with a full away end and a side brimming in confidence. For me another loss on the cards and I am going 2-1 Leeds. I said i would give my verdict on Liam Manning at the end of January -Personally like the style of football we are playing-i think he is being hindered by the lack of signings for today and not for the future- he clearly knows he requires players as we the fans do. Are we any better than when Nige was here no-bearing in mind the Lansdown's wanted improvements -we are still in the same place. For me the owners need to back LM with signings if they want a top six finish. At present we are not good enough to take a spot.
Don’t count your chickens. I got to Bristol about an hour ago. My very attendence will have an impact on the result.
We are very good defensivley, we don't concede many, but we struggle with scoring. Too many draws, and late defeats as a result of not scoring when dominate have blighted the last 10 games or so.
Agree with most of this, except, we are playing much better football under Liam Manning than we ever were under the dinosaur that was Nigel Pearson. It just hasn't manifested itself in moving up the league as the fans and board would like.
Hard game tonight but the motivation to go 2nd has to gee the lads up to bring a performance. Brizzy Cith just played Tuesday night which is a bit weird but I'm still not expecting them to be tired they are athletes. big chance for Willy tonight to show us something if he starts you have to expect him to do so. Going 2nd could really mix the minds of the other two also Southampton and Ipswich. Think if we do win its going to be a hard well fought one watched these against Wet Spam in the cup and they weren't afraid to get stuck in something we don't like to play against we have to be Men tonight and stand up and be counted rather than the moany arms in the air stop playing ones.
The vast majority of City fans never thought NP a dinosaur. Instead we were grateful of keeping us in the Championship whilst reducing the squad and wage bill massively. Supcon is very much in the minority of City fans. As for tonight's game, you'll probably win by 2 goals.
We're very inconsistent away from home Redprintt. Well apart from conistently losing games by the odd goal after spurning numerous chances that is. Anyway looking forward to it and may the best team win
Bristol away on a Friday night, under lights, on Sky ... they will be fired up, it's their BIG game of the season Leeds should be motivated enough by having the chance to go second A draw will be a decent result, James will be a miss both as an out ball to drag the team up the pitch and as defensive help for Gray Not an easy fixture at all
