You do know he makes these tweets like he knows stuff but never goes into details so you’ve no idea if it’s true or not, and deletes tweets when they don’t come off. And denies mentioning it. You challenge him he blocks you
If indeed Bird is coming our way I am a bit concerned that he only has 3 goals to his profile and why does he want to leave Derby who, let's face it, have a bigger image than us. Maybe someone like this is one that may get under the usual radar of other clubs and may very well fit into what Liam's forward thinking brings to City's game plan. Overall I like what I have seen under the stewardship of our new head coach but it is plainly obvious that we still need some new pegs to fill the missing holes in our current format, and we have yet to see the real benefit of what Manning might bring to Ashton Gate. A promotion play-off spot is still on the cards but before we can see that potential come to fruition we have to focus on the small things and let the larger picture take care of itself. Whether or not these new additions are up to the task will only be found out by what happens on the pitch and should not include late game capitulations like at Millwall and Coventry. The sun is shining brightly out here and I hope that is an omen for what fate will bring us in the next 3 months of this season. PS. I just noticed the potential for him to be loaned back to Derby for the rest of the season - is that correct or are we being wummed?
I think he’s more a defensive midfielder, I assuming to replace James in the summer. This would then make sense.
#BristolCity have agreed a deal with Derby for midfielder Max Bird. Will sign permanently but returns to Derby on loan for the rest of the season (John Percy, Telegraph)
What on earth is the point of signing a new player only to send him straight back to his club for the rest of the season? Surely we need better players now if we want to consolidate our place in the Championship whilst looking to the future when we have a squad that can truly compete, and I just can't understand the dynamics with this trade. Anyway I'm off to the local BMW dealer to buy a new car but they can have it back so it can get damaged by someone else but that's O.K. because I take possession next August - good deal EH?
We’re going nowhere this year, plus his contract is out in the summer with Derby, they don’t want to let him go because they’re going for promotion. They get to keep him for their promotion push, we get him next season to hopefully help us with ours. I think James and Williams are OOC in the summer too,i may be wrong about that, I’m sure RoD will know though.

Thanks Wiz, it wouldn’t surprise me if we offer Williams a reduced wage offer, I think James and King will go though.
Bristol City sign 'mystery attacker' with loan addition of ex-Manchester City and Rangers talent Bristol City have completed the loan signing of fomer Manchester City Under-21 winger Dire Mebude from Belgian first division side KVC Westerlo. City head coach Liam Manning revealed earlier on Thursday that the Robins were close to a signing and, although a deal has now been agreed for Derby County midfielder Max Bird, Mebude was the mystery attacker he was referencing, when speaking at the High Performance Centre and after the 2-2 draw with Coventry City on Tuesday. The London-born forward is capable of playing on either wing or through the middle and has been capped at U16, U19 and U21 level for Scotland. The hope was for Mebude to be involved in tomorrow night’s Championship fixture against Leeds United at Ashton Gate but City missed the midday registration deadline. The 19-year-old started his career with Rangers but left when he was 16 to sign for Manchester City, before winning the academy players’ Player of the Season award in 2021/22. He scored 12 goals and added 14 assists in 33 games for the U21s in 2022/23, and was nominated as the Premier League 2 Player of the Season, but was sold to Westerlo for £1.65m last summer. His older brother Dapo also plays in Belgium for second division side KV Oostende. Mebude is under contract for another three-and-a-half years but has made just three appearances in the Belgian top-flight with a move to the Robins providing fresh opportunities for game time. Although not a household name and ultimately a raw talent with precious senior experience, let alone in the Championship, Manning will hope the pacy and skillful teenager can add something extra to his side in the final third. There was considerable external clamour for a striker from the fanbase but in Tommy Conway and Nahki Wells, Manning feels he has two frontline strikers, with Harry Cornick in a supporting role. The message throughout the window was of the lack of movement in the market and subsequent affordable options, particularly in forward positions, while City were either unable or unwilling to bring summer targets forward
Hopefully this kid can address the poor service in the final third, but it still doesn’t address the need for a different type of striker, that we seem to clearly need.
I only get info from OTIB. But only if someone I believe in says it. One poster who I respect said he thinks we wanted him but the summer when he’s OOC others could offer better terms so we done this deal to prevent anyone else coming in for him. As Derby would not outright sell them whilst they were still in contention to go up like you said. We have James, Williams and King OOC so having him now in a nothing season makes more sense securing the deal and not paying his wages till the summer when we’re are paying those three still.
