I would have been fine with selling him for £40m (or a loan with an obligation to buy for that). That would have been a great fee.

But a loan with merely an option (an option that is highly unlikely to be activated), I struggle to get behind. Promotion is way more important than a few million loan fee.

Agreed but its not as if Charly did much in the first half of the season and with Rothwell and Brooks on board and Aribo now playing well, he is likely to do even less.

Can't say I'm delighted with this. Seems odd in some way, just have to see what actually comes out from the Club.

If Charly were the game changing talent he's claimed to be I think we would have seen more of it. The best players are able to adapt and shine in whatever system they play in.

Think that’s really harsh on a very young player, in a new country, in a system that doesn’t suit him.

Yet despite all the odds he has shown an amazing attitude and flashes of sheer brilliance

I'll follow his progress at Juve with interest and we'll see what the situation is at the end of the season. Making an impact in Italy may make 40m the starting point for the auction. As I said early I don't like it but can see possibilities of it being a good move for club and player.

Yes I suspect this is more like an inverse Brooks situation. Bournemouth didn't want him to go but they respected his desire to be playing. It just feels a little more unpalatable when the shoe is on the other foot.

I think he won us points v Norwich at home. Also he was excellent in the second half of a home game fairly recently after a ****e first half, Brizzle or Cardiff perhaps?

It's fair to say he's not done as much as many hoped this season but he's certainly not been ineffective all season long. Patchy is how I'd describe his form, has often been in bursts rather than whole games.

He definitely doesn't really suit this style though sadly, albeit I think he'd be better now we attack with more pace.

Sulemana, S Armstrong, Brooks, Adarma front 4.

With Fraser, Edozie, Aribo, Rothwell, Che, Mara and some fantastic youngsters for competition.

I know a lot is because of the system but it's absolutely mad that a player with unquestionable PL quality and a great attitude would get more game time at Juventus than Saints but I think it might just prove true.

I think the gamble is that Charley is not suited to the rough and tumble of the championship and but could excel in the premier league with more experience. If he plays a blinder for Juventus they probably couldn’t afford to buy him. The club are setting a starting valuation if any other clubs want to come in for him in the summer. An option price for Juventus is not a sell on clause for other interested clubs.

I'd have both Fraser and Edozie ahead of Sulemana personally.

I agree, both offer more, and Edozie was quickly finding end product. I love Edozie though.

Will be interesting to see what Russ says at the Rotherham preview. He’s normally pretty transparent.

Hopefully Charly comes back a better player with a higher value in the summer, then it's a win/win if he stays or goes at that point.
If we get promoted that is.

It’s a weird one, but no weirder than when he signed a new deal so quickly (which may have done us a favour financially).

Just can’t see him coming back here… if he does well, Juve will stage a deal over a number of years, or if they can’t afford at all, he’ll sign for another club that suit his style.

Whikst he’s apparently said he’s open to coming back (who wouldn’t be on about £80,000 Prem wages)…. This is on the assumption we change the style of football we play…. Pretty sure while there might be a tweak for the Prem, we’ll not be hugely changing the style, wasn’t that the point of bringing RM in…?

Appreciate RM might not last for whatever reason, but then we’ll be back to square one finding a style while struggling to compete in the Prem (again).

Not massively fussed on this one, as DTLW said yesterday, he’s flattered to deceive and regardless of age, we’ve only seen a glimpse of the promise shown.

For all we know (admittedly on no evidence), he’s done a Sadio Mane (and others) and used us as the much maligned stepping stone…. For me, he’ll just be the guy who had great energy, great potential but chipped the keeper and the goal vs Blackburn.

Charly doesn't suit our syst3m, rightly or wrongly we aren't shoe Horning him into to the detriment of our team.

Hopefully it puts him in the shop window
