Two more things that stood out for the goals was Jobe’s quick and nicely weighted through ball to Clarke for the first goal and Ba’s excellent pass over the top for Clarke, leading to Ba’s goal. Looks like nice work from the coaches, teaching the players how to be more effective for the team.
Just watched the extended highlights and, in my opinion, Stoke didn't actually have more chances than us at 0-0. Clarke had a sitter when Ba went down and Ekwah should've scored from closer in than his goal. Just saying ....
Eh? That can’t be true? Worst coach the world has ever seen this Beale lad!! Where was O’Nien for their goal too? Why wasn’t he marking the lad that knocked it in?????? (obviously huge sarcasm in both comments! Agree totally)
Dunno if it was just the hangover from previous weeks of drama but in the ground it definitely felt like we were struggling first. Once the goal comes though we were in complete control. Points to confidence and we should take that into Boro.
That was my thought too. Those who said “with better finishing Stoke would’ve s ores 3” seemingly forget that with better finishing Sunderland would’ve scored 5 or 6!
The Stoke fans, on the Metro, had no complaints. Their first 'chance' was a shot from outside the box which Patterson dealt with easily enough, good effort from a good player though. They've been playing much better than under Neil, they reckon, but we 'had too much energy' for them. Fair enough, I'll take that and party
Every club has them sadly, we know they represent a small minority, however they make themselves very vocal at times. Sometimes us as fans (all fans of all clubs) have very short memories, it wasn’t long ago that SAFC were stuck in league one under tweedle dee and tweedle dumb. This year has been a rollercoaster, but ultimately we’ve come on so much the last couple of years, the only thing that goes against us this season is being a victim of our own success from last year IMO.
I mentioned that Stoke had chances to score, ( they did simple fact) I never said we had less I also stated how well we played and throughly deserved to win. I never suggested anything other than we deserved to win. We were much better defensively against Hull and got beat by their 1 deflection shot. However yesterday even when Stoke had chances there was always a feeling we were going to win. That was the difference I was trying to get across the last few games no matter how much possession we had we weren't hurting teams yesterday what ever Beale has done has made a difference
Exactly, highlights I viewed on tv showed all their chances and just our goals omitting our numerous chances
It’s the first time I’ve looked further along the line on you tube, eventually came across lads ripping the club to bits, my first and only thought was do real fans listen to these half wits, they are nearly as bad as some on here
I remember seeing Beale talk about training being right on the edge when he came. The best training sessions, in my opinion, are those that replicate game intensity. Whether it be a 5v5 or 11v11, it must be all in, 100%. This is how coaches know whether a player is ready to start a game or not. Under Fergie Man Utd were lauded for their training sessions. By all accounts Keane was the man and he demanded everything be 100% all the time. Train like you play is the old saying. True as well. If we are ramping up the pre game warm up to be at 100% I am all for it and it should lead to aggressive front foot starts to games.
Another thing I’ve noticed with Ba about yesterday was when he scored there was none of that cupping their ears and running to the crowd and simulating “f*** you”, just pure enjoyment of the moment,
Broke out the Amad celebration, which I’m saying is cos they been in the phone and he’s coming home….
Thought about the game in the cold light of day and I must admit I was worried about it, mainly because if Stoke had scored first I thought the atmosphere would've turned toxic and I didn't want my grandson to witness it and for it to put him off going. But it didn't happen and he loved it. What made it all the more better for him is that he saw his first win after about 8 games! He was absolutely buzzing afterwards and asking when we are getting season tickets
Some big games ahead. If we can get something at Boro the beat Plymouth then we have some momentum. Huddersfield, Birmingham, Swansea and Norwich are all beatable. We have to find a way to win away from home
