Full credit to the Stones. Town 38 shots no goals, them 2 shots 2 goals. Says it all. Cheque book out!
I think it's a disgrace, you put your best 11 out, hope to get 3 or 4 up and then rest players, not the other way around. Poor management, several players just not good enough... Aluko, Taylor, Broadhead to name a few. Our only threats were Hutchinson and Sarmiento and he took them off ffs!! Chappers way off it atm
Broadhead was so poor today. He needs a break and why was Sarmiento taken off? Some strange decisions today. Need to bounce back against Preston or this could go south very quickly
Game was over when we substituted the only 2 effective attacking players. Absolutely anonymous performances from everyone else. Plan B and urgency lacking in the final 10 minutes. Weak links across the defence. All in a rare game I have access to watch. Not happy.
Lack of precision, imagination and edge from Town that keeps costing us in the league. All credit to their manager though.
We have not done the goods in the transfer market in the summer or in January and now it’s coming back to bite us.
Could be a blessing, shows how much we really do need reinforcements asafp, on the other hand....watching that, who would want to come!!
Two things I take from that 1)I don't often criticise KMc's team selection but he's got it wrong starting with Hutchinson and Sarmiento instead of bringing them on Second Half when Maidstone would no doubt have been tiring. 2)We need a striker!
Yeah, this felt like a missed opportunity for a deep cup run. Fair play to Maidstone though, they came with a gameplan, got a bit lucky, and pulled off a historic win. Hope they get another plum tie next round. Silver linings for us is that we’ve got no distractions (or a mid-week replay, had we got the equaliser), allowing us to focus purely on the league. It also further demonstrated what many of us thought - we don’t have that good a squad depth. Players like Walton, Humphreys, Taylor, Ball, and Broadhead have been struggling in our first team for a number of weeks now. Aluko clearly past it too. Tuanzebe also struggled today. We are crying out for two centre-forwards. I really hope Ashton and the team are doing everything they can to bring in some strikers, because what we’ve got beyond Hirst clearly isn’t good enough. Also agreed McKenna got the starting line up wrong. Not sure why he took off both Hutchinson and Sarmiento - our brightest players out there today.
