Fairly obvious selection knows his way round Cheltenham, the form is rock solid and really well supported in the market tonight. I feel could be a type to follow and end up on the right side of more often than not... GINNYS DESTINY 100/30 12.40 Ch
Cheltenham 12,40 Charles Ritz 16/1 e/w Lads and Coral four places, 14/1 sky five places 13,50 Datsalrightgino 5/1 WH, 9/2 others Doncaster 15,15 Annual Invictus 16/1 e/w six places
Cheltenham clues to be found all over the place today, not least at Prestbury Park itself. Starting with the Triumph Trial, we have two top class juveniles in what looks a match race - Burdett Road and Sir Gino. My heart is with Burdett Road, I was mesmerised by the way he came up the hill last time and if he wins today he will go very short for the Triumph. Sir Gino won on debut at Auteuil and Joe Donnelly was so impressed by the race he bought him and also the runner up Salvator Mundi (sent to Willie Mullins, yet to run but is entered in the big juvenile race at the DRF). He showed he has a serious engine when winning at Kempton on yard debut and will give Burdett Road a very stern test. We then have 2 handicap chases over exactly the same distance - the first one for novices only - and you do have to wonder at the racecard planning here. Ginny's Destiny will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Stage Star last season but the novice chase could also be worth watching with a view to the Grand Annual. Certainly a comparison between the two races might throw up an unexposed novice (although I think Solar Impulse in 2016 was the last novice to win the Grand Annual). I can't warm to the Cotswold Chase at all - looks a very poor renewal that confirms the dearth of top class staying chasers in the UK. The Clarence House Chase has been saved but is only a shadow of the race it would have been with El Fabiolo staying at home. The International has, of course, lost Constitution Hill due to a bad scope but the reappearance of Lossiemouth does add a lot of interest and hopefully the mare can show why she is favourite for the Mares Hurdle. The Cleeve looks very open and the main challengers to Crambo for the Stayers Hurdle are likely to be seen at the DRF next weekend. Up at Doncaster we should get more of an idea about the Supreme credentials of Jeriko Du Reponet as he finally gets a decent level of opposition in the Rossington Main. With Lossiemouth engaged at Cheltenham, Willie Mullins sends Gala Marceau and Ashroe Diamond to Grade 2 Mares Hurdle whilst in the River Don Range could go well for Sam Thomas.
Hascouer Clermont 25/1 3.15 @ Doncaster. Looks a potentially good each way shout here with 4 places being paid. Won his 2 previous before a lack lustre run lto. I think we could well see a return to form here today.
Oddy, win or lose, I shouldn’t back Lossiemouth with your money. Previous years’ juveniles tend to go nowhere fast. Rubaud is progressive and potentially underrated off 149- he won off 150 prior to meeting Constitution Hill and, though trounced, he ran well enough. I see him more as a 155 horse.. Trouble is he’s giving weight away but should go close, but it’s not a two horse race anyway.
Agreed Tam but I think Lossiemouth was an above-average winner of the Triumph and she gets weight Not a betting prospect though
I'd agree with Tamerlo. You would have to be taking Lossiemouth on if you're having a go in the race.
(15:15) Doncaster, Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase, Class-1, over a distance just short of 3m, will be run on good (good-to-soft in places) ground. Of the 18-runners, the Kapgarde gelding, Kandoo Kid, is the pick in this very competitive and tricky event with many having an excellent chance of winning it. Form matches-up with any of them, however, with the Nicky Henderson entry, Mister Coffey, being particularly dangerous. Will wear usual tongue-strap. Very capable NH jockey, Lorcan Williams, on board for the Paul Nicholls yard. 7/1 (Unibet) best price with ATR currently. E/W best option. .................... plus Rev.Forecast: Kandoo Kid/Mister Coffey ....................
Never jumped did he? Sweated up really badly too. I thought he would win 2 out but ran out of steam. Great for you Freddie
Yeah he did nothing right. That's as shaky as I've ever seen him. El Fabiolo will be getting the Cubans down off the top shelf tonight and enjoying his sleep.
Proved she's decent there but she's beating very average graded performers at the same time, can only beat what's in front of her.
