City get placed in the Scottish league and replaced with Rangers. (I only picked Rangers not Celtic because Rangers play in blue like City)
I had no idea that Chris Hughton was manager of Ghana. It's looking like he could be sacked after what's being called an "embarrassing" exit from the AFCON. I haven't been watching the tournament so have no idea whether or not it was embarrassing but the guy can't seem to catch a break in his career.
well he's an alright organiser but has a love of 451 and he was playing a form of it with ghana despite having a lot of good forwards. they drew games 2-2 he's got a lot of championship sides up but every single time he's gone 451 and drained the life out of crowds and struggled to score. the players he has at his disposal should be hammering sides here.
Paul Tierney has been appointed as the referee for Liverpool v Chelsea. After what happened at Bournemouth, I cannot believe this.
chavs are largely as expected. it looks likes they've hammered a square peg into the right back round hole. otherwise is a fairly normal chav side. blunt. this could be 0-0 but I fancy a snide dive at some point brings a dodgy pen and we all move onto Wembley as boro will just feel amazing for being in a semi and not complain about the ref with the large brown envelope.
I'm 100% certain that if there's a serious punishment levied on them they will take it to court. Unless... they fear a court case will actually put them in a worse light than they already are.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a team commit suicide quite to readily as boro in the first 45 minutes here.
I found this following the announcement of Everton’s punishment - “The commission can impose fines or compensation orders, suspend or expel clubs from competition, deduct points, or order matches to be replayed in certain circumstances. Where a club is suspended, the teams it would have played against during that time are deemed to have won those matches. The commission can also award compensation to other clubs, who feel they lost out due to the alleged breaches. Earlier this year, Everton’s relegation rivals Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Leicester and Burnley indicated that they may wish to seek compensation. Should a club appeal against any punishment, the decision of the appeals board is final in all but the most unusual circumstances, such as fraud or grievous errors by the commission. Clubs cannot take the case any further, such as to the law courts or to the international court of arbitration for sport.”
Highlighted sentence: who has decided, and on what grounds, that they can prevent someone instigating legal proceedings if they think they have a case? Private organisations have a fair amount of leeway in the rules they can impose, but they can't break the law of the land. Penultimate sentence: "the decision of the appeals board is final in all but the most unusual circumstances, such as fraud or grievous errors by the commission." I just can't see City taking a serious imposition lying down, and their hotshot lawyers will be looking for loopholes the authorities probably haven't even anticipated. Forget what you or I would like to happen, can you really see them meekly accepting it?
Probably - but private organisations are still subject to the law of the land, and I wouldn't put it past them to give it a go.
If they did would the prem not be within their rights to just refuse them entrance into their league ? I don’t think it will happen just asking the question Surely the prem don’t have to allow anyone it the league ?
I suppose it's a bit like a pub or club, the landlord can bar anyone he feels like without needing to explain. I just don't think they'll take it lying down. Anyway, I still think that they'll just get a rap on the knuckles so the theory won't be tested.
Whatever the punishment is, it needs to be serious enough that they can't just have a year off and come.back with all the players they bought illegally and the unfairly gained advantage they have continuing. It needs to be a couple of steps relegation or at least barred from promotion back into the PL for a few years. Simple one step relegation isn't enough and would be unfair on teams that play by the rules.
