Eeesh, tough watch that first half. Can’t see us getting back in this, our frontline just isn’t working as well over recent weeks.
Second half we just went for it,even before the subs, but it’s great to have Hutchinson and Sarmiento when we need to chase games. In KMc we trust!
Much improved second half, brilliant result. As others have said, Sarmiento and Hutchinson made a difference up top.
I thought the start of the first half neither team were playing their normal pressing game, it was like watching a game of chess, both teams were relatively content for the spare man to be the GK. Leicester then really showed their class, pinned us in and had some real quality on the ball except in the final 3rd. From an Ipswich perspective I thought a good chunk of the team had a poor or average games tonight. Clarke was awful defensively and on the ball and Chaplin I think had his worst game in a town shirt. Looked like the occasion got to us. Travis and Luongo weren't really in the game, neither was brave enough in collecting the ball which mean when Leicester decided to press we went long with a hopeful ball which we inevitably lost, this is where we really miss Morsy and makes me think long term this is a position we need to strengthen. We don't have enough CMs who are brave enough on the ball to take it in tight spaces and drive forwards. I have to say Taylor came on and improved us in this regard. The only player for me who consistently looked a threat all game was Burns although he did suffer a bit I think with the occasion first half as well, a couple of times he could've been more direct when he either decided to check back on himself or cross the ball when he could run at his man. But on the whole he was very good and the thing I like about Burns is for a winger he's always a threat and his fullback even if Burns is having a bad game will have had to work hard. Jackson was Jackson, didn't do alot wrong but he's a very limited player, if he's our only striking option moving forwards were out of the automatic promotion chase. Even though Broadhead is clearly short of confidence and chose the wrong option a few times I thought he had more about him upfront that Jackson. Even though Jackson is fast his runs in behind are surprisingly poor, his movement isn't the best. I thought again our CBs were superb, as they have been all season, for the goals we have conceded for me it's not the CBs who have been the problem, it's probably one of the areas where we have our biggest strength in depth. I thought bar 1 mistake Woolfeden was superb again, his reading of the game is another level, he must've got Clarke off the hook 2/3 times tonight...I can't believe there wouldn't be PL teams looking at him. Finally I thought McKenna got the subs spot on tonight. I actually usually think it's an area he could improve on but tonight he got it exactly right, Sarmeinto and Hutchinson changed the game, what a pairing to bring on at the end of games they look relentless not just on the ball but off it. Great point this and in my mind whilst our form has been patchy, we're still ticking on and keeping our noses in front. We've had a tough month, with games and injuries/suspensions and we're still right in this with more favourable fixtures coming up plus hopefully signings in the transfer window
I think we will now go on a big unbeaten run again, like we did last season. I think we will only lose 1 game and funnily enough, I think it will be at carrot road.
I was unable to watch or listen but checked at half time, oh dear another Leif own goal, one of our top scorers now! Couldnt believe we levelled in 89th minute, fine result. All power to KM and his sub tactics. Clearly all subs made a difference and changed the course of the game. Hutch & Sarmienta, such a fine pair to run at tiring defenses. I will watch highlights later. Look forward to 2nd half of season with more confidence. Cant wait to see who comes in. Gotta be money on Moore!
That game against them has seen us go on a bad run. 7 games before the Norwich game 16 points & 14 goals. 7 games since (including Norwich) 8 points & 6 goals. And we are still second
This is sooo familiar to last season, one team well ahead, we go thru a rough patch late Dec and early Jan.....let's hope that pattern continues
Im feeling very bouyed by this result. Still have our noses in front and everything completely in our own hands. Shows how far we still need to improve but feels like we're the other side of the mountain. We must be a rare example of a team that Leicester haven't beaten.
Just rewatched the highlights and the build up to our equaliser was phenomenal. To show such patience at that stage of the game is tribute to how well they’re all coached.A poacher’s finish but pure teamwork in the buildup. It started with a back pass from Wolfenden to Hladky.
I’d argue that’s our shape and how well coached we are is our greatest strength. At half time on Sky Sports, Neil Warnock in the studio was saying how McKenna had to completely change everything otherwise Leicester would be out of sight. Pundits should know by now that our Plan B is just to execute Plan A better. Nine times out of ten under McKenna, we get something out of the game. What is it now - 21 goals now scored in the last 15 minutes in games this season (a stat like that flashed up on Sky). An absolutely ridiculous stat for a newly promoted team.
