What a brilliant brilliant night. One of the best IMO since I’ve followed the lads. Me dad called me after, who’s followed them since the 50’s, and he was ecstatic, to quote him ‘We don’t usually win games like that’

Definitely up there in the top ten away games for me. My young lad and me were still celebrating our goal when Man Utd scored What a fantastic night and tremendous away end.

    Holy sh!t a decade.

I had just moved to Cork, watched it in a sports bar in the city centre rammed with Man Utd fans, went nuts and held my own, some of them knocked chairs over and stormed out at the end. Wearside dominated Manchester and Cork that day.

Was in with the home crowd for that match, managed to just about contain myself until the penalties, then ended up jumping up and cheering. Thankfully the supporters around me didn’t react too badly, a few even offered congratulations. Brilliant night!

Atmosphere wise for me personally the best I've ever witnessed. The noise when the players came out the tunnel and made there way over to us was absolutely deafening. Then came the save from the final pen and the sheer eruption was simply unbelievable.

Undisputable proof that that team of lazy bastards and dickheads, who were content to circle the plughole every year, could turn up when they wanted to.

The difference between their best and their worst was way too large for it to have been anything other than attitude.

I was at work watching it on a laptop with my shift partner - nothing got done for the first half of our shift. When it went to penalties, we had a couple of engineers who were mags watching it with us. I can remember being absolutely bouncing for the rest of the night!

    it was indeed.
    Mad, mad night.
Flew in from Helsinki and met my old marra, now passed. We got stuck into some fine drinking in central Manchester through the day. Thought I’d take on the pathfinder role to Old Trafford, but been years since I’d lived there and later got lost en-route, jumping over garden fences to nowhere like I was a 14yr old again.
lasting memories were picking up our fans and hoisting them in the faces of the home fans as we won on pens
had a laugh with local rozzers who were city fans on the way out the ground then back to hotel to collapse.
flight back next day and had to bail out of work for next 2 days as lost my voice. Client presentations out the window but worth it

brilliant memories….. and big credit to the lad on here who got me a ticket ! You know who you are….

When that Bardsley shot went in I jumped out of my seat, screaming and shouting. My wife turned to me and said "sit down you silly old sod you will give yourself a heart attack". :emoticon-0138-think

3 days later, 25th, I was rushed into James Cook after suffering a massive heart attack. Worst thing about it was that I couldn't go to the final with my 3 sons <doh>
