Assuming the Egyptan keeper wont be betting on letting in total gifts like this one(13s in for the 2nd goal), you would assume they go through
The thing for me was how deceitful he was, not necessarily moving the ball but scraping up a handful of foam and placing it in front of the ball like he was trying to say - I didn't move it, look the foam's still there. Players move the ball and stamp on the foam quite often but I've never seen anyone move the ball and try and move the foam in front of the ball. The goal shouldn't have stood.
I mean its clearly against the rules. rule 13 is clear. All free kicks are taken from the place where the offence occurred. There is no mention whatsoever of foam spray that vanishes in the rules. its up to the ref to use or not use it. The fact that "nobody" noticed the player up to all sorts reflected very very poorly on the referee and linesperson. The fact the var officals watching the game AGAIN chose to ignore that they could obviously see on screen means they are either not paying any attention to thier feed while the game was halted or that they do not know the rules. The fact the forest keeper lined up a wall and failed to not the ball being moved reflects horrendously on him. the people in the wall were obviously day dreaming and not watching either. the correct outcome here would be the Ref is altered by his assistants, stops prior to free kick being taken and books Toney for what is "unsporting behaviour" that falls within the cautionable offenses section of the rules . the ball is replaced on proper location, remarked and the kick is then taken. If the VAr had seen the ball moved then they should only get involved after a goal and draw the referees attention to the fact the ball was moved and replay what happened. Then the same as above should occur. It sounds entirely pedantic but it is far less pedantic than stopping a game for a free or thrown taken in your own half thats 5 yards wrong or a rolling ball. Rules are rules in once case but not if a cock up happens??
I think they didn't want to spoil his 'heroic return'. Bad for the optics, as they call it these days. The other thing I found funny (for want of a better word) was some media outlets calling Toney "England international" when he's played a grand total of 10 minutes for England. Okay, he has been called up twice and played a few minutes but it's hardly a fair description.
Yeah found it very odd. I wonder if media will give tonali the same praise and build up and hero’s welcome in 6 months time
Banned for illegal gambling, start blatant cheating immediately on your return - says a lot about your character.
They want the story when he moves to arsenal. He' was willing feed the headlines and they were leading with the questions. It takes two to get that interview out.
in yesteryear a player like that would be called a one cap wonder or other such disparaging terms. having "one cap2 meant you culd have made it but you were found wanting and it was almost as big a stain on you as never getting a cap.
He's english, good and his rise up the leagues after Newcastle is a classic " feel good " story. I doubt Sandro Tonali will get the same media reception.
After saying you want to move to a bigger club rather than repay the faith and loyalty your existing club have you
Egypt losing 1-0 to Cape Verde and going out as things stand. Shame for Salah, especially as he’s injured.
