He said it during his presentation/personal introduction at the AGM. I haven't got his exact words, but Parma ham's gone mouldy provided this informative summary of what BK and MA said on the Pink'Un forum: https://forum.pinkun.com/index.php?...-nation/page/38/&tab=comments#comment-2981046 Here are the directly relevant bits: -- BK: Deploying assets on the field that are depreciating is to be checked -- BK: Oldest squad in league…not good for self-funded..so assets to be injected into the squad…young age = value..that’s the focus going forwards..youth is my personal history…must also give them exposure! -- BK: Age profile key ….there will be money from MA to invest in quality youth (not cheap) So: 1. Money will be provided for the right kind of signing 2. The right kind of signing is a player who is young, of demonstrated talent (i.e. we are not talking about youth players with nothing more than potential), assets whose value can be grown 3. Asset-value can only be increased by playing them
Webber's openness and straight-talking when he first came in was completely novel for an SD/DofF in football. It still is highly unusual; backroom staff don't talk to the press, that's left to the manager/head coach and, for other business, the CEO or owner(s). What put an end to it in Webber's case was the EDP seizing on his Times interview to jump start the Newsquest era. Openness requires trust on both sides; the EDP broke it. Ben Knapper is just keeping to the backroom, like the vast majority of his fellow SDs.
The fact that two squad places have been freed up is, I'd say, more than a slight indication that the intention is to fill them in this window.
Is there a lack of new faces because the management are waiting for a definite offer for Rowe or Sara?
Listening to Radio Norwich at half time Wednesday & all the comments were about sacking Wagner, the Canary faithful haven't been quick to renew the most expensive season tickets at Carrow Road either . I would imagine that selling Rowe in this window is throwing in the towel as a club & they will at least wait until the season finishes.
With Springetts loan would that also make it 3 potentially, although I suspect he and Rowe were only kept on to cover for Sainz injury
Completely agree with this, those who criticised that which Webber had to say better get used to some silence from our new SD, it’s fairly clear he won’t be out doing any media
Adeboyega going on loan is good news. He seems to be garnering plaudits on a fairly regular basis. Half a season of higher level games, should he play, and I would assume that is factored into the loan, will be good for his development.
Two weeks ago. And a piece of trivia: Walsall FC, known as "the Saddlers" are currently managed by one Matt Sadler. Also, Walsall have close relations with Irish club Drogheda, from where Adegboyega signed for Norwich. Looks like this loan was already written in the stars . Ade's debut was as a 77th minute sub in the 4:0 defeat at St Mary's in the 3rd round of the Cup.
An incoming transfer rumour : Jonathan Varane - 22 year old CM playing for Sporting Gijon in Spains second division. The younger brother of Rafael Varane. https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...ch-city-transfer-rumours-bid-jonathan-varane/
