Coyle was holding his own against him for most of the match. It was when Christie came on when he let him cut inside unopposed for a shot on goal.
Protection comes into it. But Christie's shown a particular weakness in that regard since coming back from Injury. He'd still probably be the best offensive right back we have, but he isn't getting close defensively, unlike last year.
Christie was ****e defensively last season too, but when you produce match winners people look past it. cite Trent
I wonder if Ingram will be 1st choice tonight, not based on the last goal at Brum I would love to get Howden Tigers opinion?
Easy one this. Allsop, in his sweeper role, takes Clarke’s head off with his knee to win us a free kick. Getting it done early should help more. Winning the free kick will also give Allsop a confidence boost helping him to pull off a number of decent saves. Clarke leaves in an ambulance we leave with 3 points
When Philogene was fit some clubs doubled up on marking him, maybe Liam could consider this as Sunderland, same as us without Jaden did not offer much of a threat in the first game except for Clarke.
He's just not a very good keeper, he's okay in patches but that's about it. I reckon he'll be back in L1 within 18 months.
He was a top performing keeper of us last season. Deals well in a low block but now we are playing more expansive he’s really struggling with less bodies etc in the way
City fans will not be able to buy tickets from the stadium tonight but can purchase a online. The Stadium of Light is a venue and fans will be asked to dispose of coins or vapes on arrival.
At the risk of this bleeding this into another thread, this is my big problem with the Gunn/Connolly incident. I can accept that a poor decision went against us on the night. That happens and ultimately it wasn't the reason we lost the game. But I do think that from a player welfare point of view, football has completely failed Connolly there, and whoever is the next player to get knocked out by a keeper in a similar incident. Football says it takes concussion and head injuries seriously, but it has promoted goalkeepers playing dangerously like that and we shouldn't then act surprised if next time it leads to an even more serious outcome.
