I’d heard about it and I live in Australia now there are other forms of communication than this forum
Getting told about it on 3 different whattsapp groups before Christmas suggests it was pretty common knowledge. Including on one where I’m the only Sunlun fan
It sounds like this Seaham bloke knows a bit about what goes on, but to quote him: "Worried it (the BCB) could get damaged so looking at redecorating it for the day" Sounds a lot more like he's aware of the need to take down our memorabilia to protect it, than he's got any idea that we're going to put up a load of piss taking pro Saudi ****. To be clear I don't believe for a second we sanctioned the signs that were put up.
That's all fine mate. My question was why, when so many people knew all about it, did no one post it on here. It seems such a massive issue that I'm puzzled why no one mentioned it.
So why did it only leak out just a week before the game if all the high and mighty fans group and there m8s knew about it ?
Yeah that’s fair. Not sure if he ever mentioned the mags colours stuff. The Newcastle decorations were defo mentioned on Twitter weeks before the game though which does lead me to thinking the club knew about them in some capacity but that’s just my opinion. Quite possible it wasn’t sanctioned but the club accepted responsibility for it being allowed to happen (sanctioned or not) in their apology statement. end of the day they’ve took responsibility and apologised, a lot of fans want explanations on how it got to that point, which is fair imo, hopefully it gets resolved following the meeting tonight and a line can be drawn under it for good.
https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threa...meeting-with-kld-18th-january.1624818/page-40 From GG (RAWA Rep) Incase people don’t want to go on RTG “As loads have said, very limited in terms of what we can say until the minutes come out. I think it's fair to say that the club are very well aware of the anger in the fanbase around various issues and I think that will be reflected in the minutes. Hard to say if it was positive or not, I think there's an understanding that genuine improvements need to be seen, and quickly, with actual time frames. But aye, can't go into detail. I'll be interested to see how the minutes read tbh. What else can I say? The club had quite a few people there, I don't think there were any notable absentees, which I think shows they were taking it seriously”
Well done mate, I honestly don't remember that ... I never opened the file. In fairness to myself I don't think many noticed or commented. TBF, that thread was all a bit messy with the derby and new coach being discussed simultaneously.
I read this post because I thought it would give some insight about the meeting, instead it is yet another diatribe about the saudis and the BCB. I certainly didn't;t know about the BCB until I saw it on here (not surprising as I live a million miles away and don't read much "social media"), I was quite shocked. But it happened, the offending decorations were removed, our chairman KLD apologised. Can we not just move on, let it pass now? Some people must wake up on a morning, and think, "What can I be offended by today"? Smug posts some great stuff on here (this being my only link to what goes on at SAFC), he also posts some ****e. So does everyone else, does it affect your work, does it affect your family life? Probably not! The only time it affects me is when we get beat on the field. Let's just get behind the club, it's our club for better or worse. All of the infighting adds ammunition to our detractors.
Good. Various off the field improvements are needed. That said, be interesting to see the mins to see actual accountability and transparency over decisions that have been made.
It was definitely being rumoured the week before the game. It's important there's some accountability here after reflection because there's massive concerns about the competence to run safc of certain persons in senior roles. Never mind the other concern being they just don't get the importance of this issue to us or don't care. That has yet to be addressed and made public as to how it's being rectified imo.
