Good Morning. It's Thursday 18th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds turn their attention to Spanish International midfielder With a move for Ben Davies unlikely, Leeds Utd Technical Director Gretar Steinsson could use his influence with the Spurs hierarchy to capture highly rated Spain International Bryan Gil. The creative 22yo can play on either wing or attacking midfield. He's only played 187 minutes of game time all season, prompting him to ask Tottenham Hotspur Supremo Daniel Levy for a transfer request. Reports from Spain indicate Spurs are set to cut their losses for the former Sevilla academy player. They splashed out £21.6m for him at the beginning of the 21/22 season, but are now willing to accept just £7m! A swap deal involving Wilfred Gnonto is not off the table either. Spurs are long time admirers of the Italian International, who has failed to live up to promise this season. please log in to view this image USA defender with close ties to Arronsson linked with Whites USA International centre-back Mark McKenzie is the latest in a long line of defenders linked with a move to Elland Road this month. The 24yo is a product of the Philadelphia Union Academy, and played alongside Brendan Arronson in their youth set-up. After graduating, the pair played for Bethlehem Steel (Philadelphia's second team), before both being promoted to Union's first XI. Genk want £8.5m, but whilst Leeds wouldn't have a problem raising the cash, they face competition from Everton, West Ham and Brighton. McKenzie is unlikely to dislodge either Struijk or Rodon, and as he cannot play another position, a deal is unlikely to materialise! please log in to view this image Defender speculation heats up Speculation that Leeds will sign a top flight defender this month are gathering pace. Ben Johnson, Neco Williams, Chris Mepham, Borna Barisic, Connor Roberts, Ben Davies and now Mark McKenzie have all been linked with moves to LS11, but have less than two weeks left to complete any deal. Nico Williams and Ben Johnson are believed to top Daniel Farke's shopping list, but Nottingham Forest are reluctant to part with Williams, and Johnson's attitude is questionable, and is holding West Ham to ransom to try and triple his salary. Borna Barisic has rejected talks to extend his current deal at Ibrox beyond the end of the season, but without a replacement, they would be mad to let the Croatian International leave! please log in to view this image
Morning all, Piroe, Anthony, Gnonto on the bench, Gruev, Ampadu and Kamara fighting for one position, I can’t see us signing a £7m player who will expect first team football and at the expense of who? Basically every LB and RB who are not currently being selected or are 3rd choice at their current PL club are being linked to us.
Speculation that WHU are signing Gnonto, fingers crossed then But agree with Ristac, why would we want Gil as we have plenty of forwards and never seen us buying so many full backs….
I think even the wildest clickbait sites have finally concluded that the idea of Leeds signing a FLFFLB is so ridiculous no-one will take the bait. So they're going to stick to more credible stories…. Mbappe to Leeds
Almost 3 weeks into the window and our new shiny high end DoF department have been on a Diversity training programme instead of doing their jobs actually bringing in players to fill holes? WTF has Steinsen and Hammond been doing as even my 8 year old grandson was talking about needing a LB when he was 3 ffs. I remember the days when we had a list and we had players lined up for when the window opened………. Oh it’s ok I forgot we have Shaks to cover
Most fans are now realising that left back isn't the priority they thought it was. Farke made the choice to go with Byram & Firpo back in the summer and nothing has changed since then. Right back however has 2 vacancies and that's where were likely to see some business done.
Ryan Giles for £5m or loan with option to buy Ryan Giles for Middlesbrough in 22/23: 45 Games 11 Assists 87 Chances created (4th) 23 Big chances created 36 Tackles 96 Duels won (52%) 32 Interceptions 200 Recoveries He’s going to be our new LB if you believe a few of the better people on Twitter
We need more quality from right back as Archie has had one assist all season and Ayling the same. Firpo on the other hand has that quality and is now showing what an attack minded full back brings to the team. Love Archie by the way
It's nothing new - Farke always plays with 1 FB as a winger, & the other played as an inverted midfielder. He v.rarely has both FBs on all out attack.
That's true but Byram has been inverted a lot of the time at left back whereas Firpo keeps more width.
More a case of another groundless rumour gone than a reason to despair that we have missed a serious target if truth be known I suspect
