Which likely would have meant we wouldn't have signed Carvalho. People can't whinge that we don't have replacements lined up, then claim that that replacement was unrelated to the player sent back.
It was a pivotal day. Our top target winger chose Southampton over us. Pivotal days don’t always have a good outcome.
Connolly couldn't have chosen to done the same as he had eyes for the ball and had no idea Gunn was there ffs. Gunn was outside his box, he wasn't able to use his hands, he therefore has no right to have his knees up as the entire point of putting your knees up is to protect yourself when you have your arms extended catching the ball, so as to not leave yourself exposed. I understand what you're saying when it comes to contests inside the box, but this wasn't. If you spoke to prem refs who said it's not a foul by Gunn then it just underlines how clueless some prem refs are.
That's just it though, at the time of contact he wasn't a keeper, he was in an outfield position hence why he headed the ball, physical challenges can be made when jumping to head the ball but not when his knees are up in keeping mode !
I vowed never to engage with you again but I can't ignore how stupid that post is.... Of course he knew where gunn was and if by some miracle he didn't then he's no business being a pro footballer. Was he just expecting gunn to sit on his line and let him get the ball. Also I know you can't get your mind around people knowing better then you, but I'm pretty sure the refs do. If you think you know better feel free to get out your chair and become a top level ref and prove how poor they are.... Now back to normal service of not responding
Connolly would have expected Gunn to have come out but would have had no idea SPECIFICALLY that Gunn was off the ground and launching himself. If he had shirked the contest as a result you'd be on here yelling at how soft he is for pulling out, FACT. Pretty sure Keith Hackett is a ref and he said it's a clear foul and that a lot of refs in the PL are poor. But I guess he knows nothing. I'm repeating what he said and I'm reasonably sure the former head of the PGMOL knows a thing or two. When you posted your opinion you knew you were saying something contrarian and joked about the fact plenty of people would disagree with you and are now taking issue with me disagreeing with you. Kind of underlines how one eyed you become depending on who's responding to you which says a lot.
He's still a keeper and that was and always be his natural position, he'd of been ****ting himself coming for it and wouldn't have even considered doing anything else.... Until the grey areas of inside outside the. Box are cleared up. It can't be given as a foul
So he can catch the ball outside the box because 'he's still a keeper'? If he punched a player in the head outside the box going for the ball would it be a red or not? Would it be claimed 'oh well he was trying to punch the ball as he's a keeper' or because it's outside the box would a different perspective apply?
In fairness the video shows Connolly was only looking where the ball was, Gunn took him out, in my opinion. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Very seldom I apply common sense, although you did say 'try'. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Yes but I noticed after first pint that they sold Kraken rum. Had to make do with Lambs Navy chasers in Parker’s after the game.
I think we best agree to disagree on this one tbf, when I saw it live to me it was reckless, nothing I've seen since has changed my mind, and if a keeper wishes to play as a sweeper then he should be abiding by the same rules as an outfield sweeper. Just claiming he's a keeper so that's what keepers do is about as much an argument as being ignorant to the law, and expecting to be found not guilty. As they say .. ignorance is no defence. I'm sure others will have different opinions to myself on it, but that's what makes the game, and the talking points.
Oh, drag yourself to Parkers after the match but not Clarendon, now we know! The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Spot on. I'm sure you'll get a far more calm and reasoned response than I, even though we're saying the same thing.
