Hypothetical question. If you were the owner of SAFC, and the money for the package was about the same for Moore and Langstaff, they are the only 2 options, which one would you go for? Or wouldnt you bother?
L2 to Championship is a huge leap. If we can't get Moore or someone of that ilk, I wouldn't be gambling on Langstaff. Would just stick with what we have
Have never seen Langstaff play so no idea but no point in spending over odds to try and get into prem
Langstaffs 27 next month, only 4 years younger than Moore and never played above League 2. I think that answers the question really.
I’d go for Moore. Played at higher level, can handle higher level defenders. On paper, less of a gamble.
Moore but only if he stayed fit for the rest of the season. He’d add a lot to our attack and might help Rusyn, Mayenda, etc cause problems. If Moore would only play around half of our games, I wouldn’t go for him. Instead I’d like us to go for the best target man / speedster we can find from the lower leagues or PL loan*. * Only if a better standard than Burstow, mind
Also Moore for his sheer size. At 6 foot 5 he would offer us something completely different to what we have upfront. I dont see how Langstaff would improve our squad at all, and at 5 foot 10 he'd offer us no more physically to what we've already got.
Just the Youtube compilation, 6 yard box player, my worry would be would we change our whole method of playing to accommodate him?
Moore 100%. The gap from league 2 into the championship is absolutely huge. And given the lads age with him having half a season experience in the actual football league , I would pass. Moore is established and will give us a completely different dynamic.
No point signing a prolific L2 striker. Would you sign Charlie Wyke when he was at his best? Langstaff has less goals in league 2 than Wyke got for us in league 1. And I wouldn’t touch Wyke. I hope we’re not really interested in Langstaff. I’d rather give Pritchard a new contract. id like to see Moore sign.
Would anyone who wants Moore to sign be ok if Pritchard was moved on to free the wage space? Tough one.
Not for me. Pritchard is our cleverest footballer. Oozes quality on the ball and sees things most don’t. I just don’t see how we’d benefit signing someone we can aim for, and having nobody to aim for him!
the same thing pisses me off when we play with no striker then when he brings one on like last game it’s for pritch the main person that would find the striker.
Two seasons ago fans were saying buying Stockton from Morecambe would be worth a shot when he scored 30+ that season. He never got a move and failed to turn in double figures the next season and I couldn’t tell you which clubs he’s at now. One season wonders are a gamble not worth taking, ask Wigan re Wyke.
