Think the back 5 and midfield picks itself. Only question is who replaces Twine and Connolly in the XI. Sharp for Connolly seems obvious, but the empty wing spot could go to any of Vaughan, Lokilo or Allahyar. Lokilo has always been most in favour of those three, but he looked so poor off the bench against Norwich and I'm not sure his goal in midweek is enough to offset that. I'd go with one of the other two.
I actually thought Lokilo looked good when he came off the bench against Sunderland on Boxing day. Although that was the other side of the pitch to where I was so maybe couldn't see properly. I'm hoping his goal in the cup gives him some much needed confidence
I'd go with allhayar, sharp needs help up there with the running, ally can do that and it also gives Sunderland something to think about with his pace if they try to defend to high
There's no standout player for that position, he scored last time out, so why not start Lokilo? If he doesn't start in these circumstances he might well think what the f*** do I have to do to get a start.
He scored there last season too, for what that's worth. The major thing against him though is that he was on the verge of leaving this week, which probably suggests the management don't have much faith in him. Unless it's more of a financial calculation in that his wages make it not worth keeping him around as a backup who is often injured.
Probably both. Let’s face it he’s not a very good footballer and from what we think we know he wasn’t exactly the cheapest signing in our current squad.
Would love a backs to the wall point or even a 1-0 win but we don't seem capable of that. Just get through it and see what shape we're in in a fortnight
We've been dealt a stinker of a hand for this one...Bad enough that we're missing Delap and Philogene but now Connolly is off the table for 3 weeks!! Never say never but we're seriously struggling for this game.Heart says we can go and give them a real backs to the wall,in your faces game of Football, head's a bit more realistic! Anyway,UTT.
Need to get the Metro from Newcastle to SOL , anyone know what time is best (Yes I know - before the match ! )
We don’t play that way whatsoever and never have under Rosey. This is where we will come undone, without our star players still trying to play nice tippy tappy football. But I agree completely, the players we have do suit setting up as a frustrating, hard to beat team.
Allsop Coyle - Jones - Greaves - Jacob Slater - Morton Tufan - Carvalho - Allahyar Sharp Although, like everyone has suggested Allahyar's position could easily be Lokilo or Vaughan
