Were always going to.maximise use if the loan market as a means of attracting the quality needed to challenge. We (and others) can't compete for the top 6 of this league with the recently relegated sides otherwise. The idea is to have a solid core squad here to add 4/5 loans to each season for a smattering of stardust. It's not rocket science.
If we had only permanent players, you'd be banging on about how useless we'd been in the transfer market, not utilising the loan market. It's just your modus operandi.
It sounded from the RH commentary last night as if we almost played a 3-4-3 last night, and it seemed to work quite well for 60 mins (sounded like we changed it when Ashbee went off). Can anyone who was there confirm if that's what we did. I'd really like us to try this with the first team, as we seem too easy to play through, and despite being talented players I still think Jones and Greaves need another robust CB alongside them. Would also allow them to step into midfield more. Don't expect it to happen of course but at least if we tried it in a Cup game suggests it's not out of the question.
Always did hate losing but given last nights circumstances and team selection a defeat was pretty much on the cards IMO. Rosenior obviously targeted Friday night as his main concern and for me that was a no brainer. Pleased for the youngsters and good to see Ash’s lad make his debut. Friday nights game at Sunderland is a totally different proposition. Most would agree it’s a tough fixture given our current form but football’s a funny old game at times and the way we knock it about anything could happen at the SOL. Hopefully some new players around the corner and with a blank fortnight on the horizon it might at least give us a chance for injuries to hopefully clear up and if there are any new players a chance for them to settle into our system. Staying positive. UTT.
Better? From what I heard, which wasn't a lot, Ashbee looks a prospect for the future...Just disappointing that we gifted them the winner, though as I previously posed the question...Do we really want to go to Leicester? You can tell where I'm coming from. The FAC isn't what it used to be.
so you’re saying we played a formation putting the available players in their best position? Rosenior would never
Well yes, the sight earlier today of someone dribbling out the lazy "he only has Plan A" guff did make me smile. Stan Ashbee looked very assured on the ball once he got past the nervous first few minutes. His tackling and covering were a bit more suspect, though he was being left very exposed by Furlong in the early stages (as was also the case with Smith/Allahyar on the other side). Vaughan played really well and dominated proceedings until Mowbray bought on his five substitutes. They really got away with it by scoring with the last kick, Bacuna was injured and they were effectively playing with 10.
They hardly played a strong 11 either. Was similar quality to us and they didn’t even play a natural centre back
Well I have watched the highlights again and in my opinion Ingram wasn't to blame for their winner. Smith with a **** back pass and Docherty losing the ball should shoulder most of the blame if any is being dished out. And they had a slice of luck when the mishit attempt bounced up and over one of our defenders only to land at their lads feet for him to slot home.
Connolly and Sharp are not loans Twine has gone I agree with you though The club seems to get half a new team every 12 months and then changes half the team 12 months later
He means they’re on one season deals, so as with the loans, will need replacing at the end of the season (though Connolly’s deal will probably be extended).
Who's the solid core squad? As far as I can see nearly every permanent first team player gets a lot of criticism.
