Yeah agreed mate there's lots of questions around it still and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Must admit I found myself wondering what the capacity of the current family bit is. What would make most sense to me is what I said I earlier with the corner being away fans and stretching into Kingsland, with more of the Kingsland for cup matches. This would free up the Itchen south to be the family zone with enough of a buffer inbetween and no complications with them around FA Cup ties. I don't know all the specifics of course though and where the easiest place to segregate the concourse and turnstiles would be. Would the access tunnel be an issue if away fans spread across it? Again no idea Fun to speculate though! I'm off work this week so if I get really bored I might do some seat counting.
Another thing to consider if things are being moved is ticket prices. It's more expensive on a wing so freeing up an end can make more affordable ticketing. The downside is that some people may be forced from an end into a wing.
Any opportunity for Saints to obtain the site where the gas cylinders were? Would make a useful addition to the stadium area.
I think the man on the moon thing was all a bit hit and miss tbh, hence no one has been back since. Humanty's capacity for **** ups far exceeds our ability to plan the simplest things properly.
I appreciate that this is NOT the 'Conspiracy Rabbitholes' thread, but do you think that anyone not 'In The Know' would be aware of any other space missions, including landing on the moon, unless they were told that it happened? Everyone (OK, me) assumes that the space race stopped in the 1970's, or at least changed direction with the Space Shuttle, European(?) Space Station etc, but is it beyond the realms of possibility that the US continued to send men to the moon, and return them safely, but just didn't tell anyone that they were doing it? Back on topic, there needs to be a much better solution to the exit points from St Marys, specifically the footbridge over the railway, from the Northam End.
It is sort of on topic. The song isn't about literally walking on the moon, but was about Sting being in love and the giant steps he takes etc. Bit like the Saints. We are all in love with the Saints and get the weightless feeling sometimes..like walking not the moon. Sting himself said he wrote the song with a former girlfriend of his in mind: that is why he talks about “giant steps” that he takes and “walking back from your (hers) house” while his “feet don’t hardly touch the ground”. Now with safe standing, we can legally 'Stand up if you love the Saints'. Giant steps by the club I think.
I don’t see how that would work The industrial estate and St Mary’s is a major route out for the chapel and would push us away from town and onto Marine Parade, it would push all of the remaining Kingslsnd over the bridge which would be mayhem Surely it would have to be the Itchen / Northam corner so they could still use Britannia rd for the coaches?
Why would home fans be stopped from going through the industrial estate? Currently home and away fans mingle outside the Northam after games. Unless it's a high risk game (e.g Pompey), I don't think there would be any need to completely separate home and away fans. And even then, the away fans would be held back.
