    Just thought i would post this as he was probs the best player i saw growing up. Sorry it has nothing to do with the toon. :)

    He was past his prime when he played for the NY Cosmos but his touch and vision were still sublime.

    Must say i think Zidane is one of, if not the, best from my era. Amazing player. If you can Nut someone in the chest in your last match and nobody cares, they just remember you for you're football. You have to be good!

    Note: I'm actually putting Zizi joint top/just ahead of Ronaldo.

    That hat-trick at Old Trafford was unreal.

    Zidane was the best for me. Oozed class.

    I'll never forget Ronaldinho against Chelsea (2nd best goal in Champions League history - but didn't make Sky's top 50!!) and Kaka at Old Trafford !

    Cruyff,Best,Pele,Zico,Júlio César,Sócrates,Platini,Beckenbauer,Frank Worthington,Jimmy Smith(till injury ended his career),Dennis law,Jimmy Greaves to many to mention


    if anyone is wondering why Frank worthington is in there watch and enjoy the guy was sublime




    not sure if it was me being a kid but the teams of the 60's and 70's all had one or two stand out skilful players that were always worth watching,i guess that ended when one or two teams started buying all the best players in the 80's

    It has to be Alan Shearer. If it wasn't for Shearer, I would not be a Newcastle fan. Loved watching him score goals for fun. Legend!!

    Other players which stood out for me include: Zidane, Ronaldo, Batistuta, Suker, Figo, R. Carlos and more recently Kaka.

    Beardsley, Gazza (before it all went wrong), LOVED watching Ian Wright, regardless of whether he scored aginst us. Very few players expressed the sheer joy of scoring like Wrighty. If I could pick 1 player from the last 20 years to play for us it'd be him, over Zidane, Henry, Cantona all the others, just for that pure passion he shared with the fans. He'd 've been a legendary no 9.
