We really do. Even if Che stays, with Che as our starting striker and Arma RW, we are very limited in terms of back up. Our back up striker would be Mara and our RW option would be play a LW out of position or use Amo-Ameyaw. RW and LB are the only areas we lack real depth and we should address both in January
Agreed (though I have far more faith in Mara than others), but I'm not going to panic if we don't get an RW (though I think we're trying to, clearly). Adarma SAA Stu All can play on the right.
Transfer Window Che I suspect is a different beast to Running Down My Contract Che. We can already see that Che's two best spells so far this season have coincided with the two transfer windows. He did very little during the Autumn. And going forward, if he is still here come February, he'll be one bad injury away from being unemployed at the end of the season. Rightly or wrongly, his uncertain future might weigh quite heavy on his mind in the months ahead. I suppose what I'm getting at is that we might find ourselves needing to put Adam back in the middle at some point. And that's in addition to your point about a lack of depth. (Part of me would like to see Sulemana given a go down the middle at times. But until it's tried and tested, I wouldn't want to be placing any hope or reliance on it working.)
I like Mara too, but I don't think he is good enough to take us up of he was our starting striker. Similarly I don't thinm SAA or Stu are good enough in that position. Tella hasn't started a game all season, let's loan him back
We've started KWP twice there in recent weeks, and I didn't like it either time. I appreciate it was Stephens rather than Bree at RB. But it wasn't really Stephens playing there which I had the problem with. It was moving KWP from his best position. He's our best player. He's the best RB in the Championship. He is far too good for this level. Don't move him into a position where he is not as strong.
It could go either way with Che and his contract. Will he be worried about injuries or will he be thinking his performances in the next 3/4 months will determine which club come in for him and how much he'll be able to demand in wages.
Not pissing on my parade I just don’t want to be promoted this season. Me and Mrs S would just like the fun to continue One more season might just allow us to prepare better and let’s face it, playing in the EPL like Man City but without all that dosh would be … ahem … challenging If we get there, I would like to see us take on a mid table Prem team in the FA Cup next round to see how that works
Be interesting to see what Che’s numbers are like in the month before and during the transfer window, to his numbers in the months after they close.
About to say the same. I think if he stays, we will get 'transfer window Che' until the end of the season. He needs to put himself in the shop window or come May he could be unemployed
Unless we get an offer of £15-£20m I wouldn’t sell him. Or we invest in another CF who isn’t injured.
You all know I was very skeptical about RM’s tactics for next year “IF” we make it but I’ve gone past that & am just enjoying the “now” which is just unbelievable. I don’t think a “test” in the FAC will prove anything, as next year will be a different “kettle”. First & foremost, enjoy the the ride & fingers x’d we get there. Ipswich proved last eve they’re no mugs so there’s a long way to go. UTS.
I watched Tottenham vs Man U earlier and honestly we pass it as well as United. What we don’t have are the ‘difference makers’ the good teams have at Prem Level. Will be interesting if we go up!
