Vikings for me, unfortunately as they are cursed. Every year I say I’m going to try and get more into college football, every year I fail. if I ever manage to I’m going straight for Alabama as with Saints and the Vikings would be nice to follow a team that actually wins from time to time
Yeah Madden is how I got into it as well. My nan went to Electronics Boutiques (**** I’m old, do they even exist anymore?) and asked the guy working there for a football game for her grandsons birthday, meaning Fifa or Pro Evo. Funny ****er decided to shift one of the pile of unsold Madden 2002 copies to this unsuspecting old lady. I got it and wasn’t overly happy but gave it a go and really enjoyed it, it’s why I support the Vikings. When you turned the game on it asked what team do you follow and I didn’t have any links to any teams (didn’t know there was an NFL team called the Saints at the time, thank **** as I would definitely have chosen them) So I shut my eyes and let the universe choose, held down on the controller and stopped at a random point and decided this would be my team, hello Vikings. I played that game a lot and various other Maddens over the next few years and started watching it on tv and understanding it a lot more. I would recommend watching with someone who knows the sport as there are a lot of rules and it is very complex and tactical that you don’t really appreciate at first, but once you do it is really great. Anyway was when I was about 20 and watched some **** kicker from the Vikings miss a field goal to win in the playoffs that any under 10 football player in the UK would’ve made and broke my heart again that it finally dawned on me. The universe wasn’t ****ing me over or hated me, the Vikings are last alphabetically so I was sat there like a little idiot with my eyes shut and the game had just scrolled through the alphabet.
Madden is good fun. First thing I did with the Vikings on franchise mode was draft a QB and release Cousins and he was 99 rated within 4 or 5 years.
It's funny you should say that. When I saw this thread I thought if I did start to follow American Football who would I choose as my team. A little bit later on I decided I would follow the Colts Like Mike Heck from the TV series The Middle.
Get in - Vikings playing in London next season! NFL International Series: Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings to play in London in 2024 - BBC Sport
This is my kind of thread! I'm so excited! The only downside is that it means the stress of trying to get tickets. Hopefully we don't play a glamour side. I'm gonna try and rope my entire family to queue up for me (along with myself) and just wire the money to whoever makes it in first
Our home games next season are: Bears, Lions, Packers obviously, plus Cardinals, 49ers, Falcons, Texans, Colts, Jets. I can't see it being the Packers and the Bears already have a London game. Texans would be fun.
49ers is probably the glamour tie from that lot, so even though they're one of the few NFL teams I haven't seen in person, they're the team I'm hoping it's not. Texans might be perceived as a bit glamorous depending on how they do with the playoffs and with CJ Stroud on their roster. So I guess I'd say Colts, Jets or Cardinals?
Well, given the Chiefs v Dolphins clash was in Germany this season, we can't assume it will be one of the less glamorous games.
Sorry, I missed this post earlier, but that's a really nice story for how you became a Vikings fan! Mine was less exciting. My step-dad got me into the NFL, he explained the rules and I watched my first game during the 2013 playoffs. The first game I watched was the Denver Broncos v the Baltimore Ravens and it was crazy and went into two periods of over time, it was a really good game for your first NFL game! Then watched the Super Bowl. Later on my stepdad got me tickets for the international game in London that September for my birthday. Who was playing? Only the Vikings v the Steelers! Closer to the time I didn't know who to support so I looked at both websites and picked the Vikings because I liked their branding and colours and fonts and such, but it was more of a who I was supporting for the game... Then I went to the game and it was awesome, and Vikings being at home they had the fight song and the gjallarhorn and all that, and I just fell in love with them from that. And Electronics Boutique still technically exists. They bought out Game in the early 00s and all their stores were rebranded as Game.
I think the Cowboys are the only team I want the Packers to win against. Be ****ing hilarious if they lose in the WC round again.
The Middle! That was a fun show, I didn't watch a lot but what I did watch of it I enjoyed. I wouldn't mind watching it all in order but on both Apple and prime you have to pay extra for it. I like to think I'm a bit like Sue. As for today's game I really do not like the Packers so I'm not too thrilled by the Cowboys performance. Their offense looks baaaaad
This Green Bay team is rather concerning. With the Lions and Packers we could end up just fighting the bears for third for the foreseeable future. Though if we do manage to improve somewhat perhaps the NFC North could become one of the toughest divisions
This is why I do believe we'll end up re-signing Cousins. We'll do what the Packers did with Love and draft a QB and he can be mentored for a couple of seasons by Cousins.
