Probably because you would have to actually watch the game and not have a preset agenda. City were very good and that was before they brought on De Bryune.
My only one gripe with Howe is.....the way we play, the front three of Isak, Miggy and Gordon are knackered after 60-70 mins. We know this and Howe knows this but he still does nothing. This also contributes to the injury crisis. Today, Isak didn't touch the ball in the last 10 mins so effectively had 10 players. Bring on a sub. We know the options are limited but hell, it can't be any worse than not touching the ball for 10 mins. Literally park the bus - get Lascelles in, Push Shar to defensive mid and tell him to man mark KDB and see it out.
All this talk of changing the team and why the persistence of playing the same front 3, we literally had Ritchie and Parkinson as attackers on the bench all others were defenders. All this talk of Howe needs to do better is bollocks we are missing significant players and don't have the back up. We also can't improve due to the PL putting ffp rules in to suit the big 6. That all aside, this was always a 5 year+ plan we just massively over achieved last year which set expectations high for this season.
Maybe, but she's given us hope and a bright future ahead. We were always going to falter before the rise up.
Yeah, She should have come out and told us all that although the PIF are the richest organisation on the planet, its all if's and but's because they're funds are like wallpaper and that they really can't compete with much smaller nation states like Abu Dhabi and Qatar. She should have followed that up with a public apology that 2 years after the takeover its a disgrace that we went from relegation certainties to battering PSG in the Champions League. Whilst playing a brand of pressing, attacking, entertaining football (In the most part).
Sucks to say, but with the clubs revenues as they are we simply are not going to be able to compete at the very top. We need to produce more money to be up there The current theory in football is: wages = league position. For Newcastle to sign better players and keep them, we will need to have more money coming in. I don't think them selling Bruno is out of the question one bit.
I think it’s just a bit tiresome that we’re regularly getting beaten up Joelinton was a miss, but the likes of Livramento, Barnes and Willock aren’t going to make us win that match today. We still look so very far away from being able to compete, but what’s worse is we’ve lost a large number of games against the crap of this league, like Everton, Luton, Forest, etc.
Welshie, the accounts are in a cracking state, we're just limited to this January...... but realistically looks like we can now spend £150m a year from this summer onwards and still make a profit. (Not a loss) The overall commercial revenues have risen 40% 2 years running (that's ****ing insane amounts) and that's without Adidas, Sela, Champs League revenue. We're borderline on FFP for this window only. Overall the wage to turnover % is coming down. Everything regarding the accounts was golden other than for this month.
Some statistics from Longstaff tonight (taken from Opta) He made 13 passes in the entire game, 13!!! Isak made 10 and the ball was at his end for a total of 6mins No crosses, no interceptions and not even a single tackle, the last one is what pisses me off the most. He’s not a creative player so what’s his job? How in the name of Christ could one of our CM’s not make one single tackle in that game. We can be critical of Miggy for his attacking output but his defensive stats tonight were immense compared. So can someone explain to me what Longstaff offers the team besides running around blasting shots in to the upper tiers? If by a miracle someone offers us £15m+ in the summer he needs to go. Im not too hung up on the result but not putting a shift in is unforgivable.
That's very good to hear. The articles I've been reading (skimming) seemed mixed to me. But I've never been into this stuff. Where's GG when I need him
There’s a guy called Keiran Maguire who specialises in football finances. Give him a lookout if you’re interested. he put together a cracking article How if inflation in football was realistic then the losses clubs should be allowed to make these days should be £220m over a 3 year period not £105m. The figure has never increased despite increases to transfer fees, agents fees and wages.
Just catching up after being on BA metal for 12 fooking hours. Neutrals are saying we played mint but some on here calling for Howe out? did we perform better than most would yes. did we score 2 goals against the best team on the planet… yes.
