Morton Twine Slater Jacob had a good game, Carvalho was good in the first half. Need some steel in the middle of the park and a keeper sharpish, got to stop conceeding so easily. Can't see us getting in the playoffs
Slater pulling out of challenges? That certainly is an opinion I suppose. There was one in the very final seconds at 2-1, they were trying to clear it, Slater went into a big 50/50 on the edge of their box, desperate to keep it alive and he just about did enough, it fell for Tufan to go into another 50/50 but he just bottled it and they cleared it. People always talk about him playing deeper, but I'm sure this kind of thing is why he doesn't.
Slater is below par for a top 6 side I wasn’t solely on about pulling out of challenges. In all fairness neither were the issue really tonight, crying out for wingers and some new defenders. See what happens.
1.Tyler Morton. Did not deserve to be on the losing side. 2. Greaves/Jones, both impressive tonight, shame one side of the pitch let them down for the second killer goal, and of course the first goal when their fella was allowed to run through us. if that had of been at the other end and a City player running through like that someone would have taken his legs away. 3. Slater. Shocking, shocking referee. One of the worst I've seen for a while. It was all about him in the first half particulary. Havn 't seen the tv replays but did two of our players deserve to be booked for diving? As for pulling out of challenges, I thought Tufan pulled out of a couple. Carvello started well but faded in the second half and to be fair i thought we deserved a draw. Agree about Twine, I thought he was playing well and was surprised when he was subbed. Excellent crowd too who I thought got well behind the team at times.
both Greaves and Jones backed off for the first goal rather than came to defend - and for the second they both marked the same man leaving a gaping hole at the back post - whether we accept it or not the elephant in the room is the pairing at the back which constantly lets in 2 goals a game - I thought Greaves had one of his better games first half but unfortunately as the match went on the frailties in his game came back to haunt us because he just doesn't stop goals going in - I appreciate we've played one game more but 13 teams have let in fewer goals than we have including QPR who are second from bottom - our leaky defence is a major concern and the longer we go on with the present pairing who don't command the box and don't have any leadership skills we will end up no better than mid table, - which would be a real shame because Acun has invested in some really good players in the attacking half but we shouldn't be having to score 3 goals every game because we know our defence will let in two
Morton - Great goal and our driving force last night. Did not deserve to be on the losing side Jacob - is settling well in to the LH side and subbing him off played an indirect part in their 2nd Coyle - tried to keep us going forward and was ably assisted at times by Twine, but hindered by Lokilo Had to be the worst ref at this level I have ever seen. I will never know how they kept 11 players on the pitch last night. If Gunn did that at Bell End Road or Leicester he'd have been sent off. Jones would have made my top 3 but for his fannying about which led to their 2nd. Weekend ruined. Totally peed off and can't see us winning a league game before Millwall come to the MKM (bet they have some dirty Tw@ts as well).
Morton Tufan Carvalho/Jacob I may off message here, and I get what Rosey is trying to do, but once again I've seen us 'softened up' by opposing sides. Rosey describe it as 'slowing down the game' but I think sides come here set up to give us a bit of a kicking and then play some football. On these boards I've seen (Kalman - I think) suggesting that we sign a big hard DM - someone who can dish it out. I know Ian Ashbee and Pete Skipper types don't grow on trees, but I seriously think for this mainly young side to go forward, we really need that type of player on the pitch. I know Chazz sort of lamented the loss of Richie Smallwood - and yes he wasn't up to the standard in overall play, but I am pretty sure one or two of the Norwich players would have left the pitch with a bruise or two had he been on the pitch. I am not advocating dirty play, but I am advocating letting sides know what they are dealing with, if they come set up to do it. I seriously believe that opposing coaches/managers have us worked out in this sense. Rant over...UTT
Yeah this is always what frustrates me, we go to these places and experience the frustration of a homer ref giving in to a crowd, like at Hillsborough, but then when we're at home we don't seem to get that same effect. We need to put more pressure on refs as a crowd sometimes. The places where the crowd never stops whining are the places where away teams get nothing from refs.
Agree with this about our defenders who aren’t defenders , they are Rolls Royces - so love to ‘play’ the ball - they need to be tougher . First half of the season everybody was screaming we were defensive and boring , now we’ve switch to an attacking side we are getting beaten as we’ve lost our two key strikers - we could do with some luck MOM Slater Jacob Morton Fabio for first half Jacob is composed , neat, not afraid and can pick a pass - shame Tufan never made himself available to Jacob in the second half on the left - he was hiding IMO , I sit in the East stand so you see this clearly
I don’t think it’s just one strong player needed but Jones , Greaves , Vaughan , Jacob, Morton , Slater to name too many are all half a stone to a stone light IMO , I said similar against Norwich away , they all looked heavier and stronger , as Sunderland will on Friday - I think we are trying to pass past them and not have to tackle - but we are not Man City or Arsenal .
