Rowe now on West Ham’s radar. That’s at least 3 EPL clubs reportedly interested. Given that we are going nowhere in terms of promotion, then Rowe might feel the need to move?
Not seen anything to that effect GE. But he doesn't seem to be starting regularly for Nantes, so Arsenal may be looking for a move which will get him more game time.
Would Marquinhos really get game time with us now? At the least, Rowe, Fassnacht and Sainz would be selected ahead of him. Why would we use a valuable loan space for that when the need is far greater for a striker, a CAM or a DM?
I don't want Marquinos but there must be some insider knowledge on here as he has just been officially recalled by Arsenal according to Fabrizio Romano. I can't see him getting a start ahead of Rowe, Fassnacht, Sainz or Hernandez for that matter, he offered very little when he was here.
Same would have been said of Harry Kane! Ben Knapper almost certainly knows more about Marquinos than any of us. If he were to come, I'd expect him to play. I'd certainly start him ahead of Fassnacht or Hernandez.
Meanwhile, from the Arsenal website: "The 20-year-old Brazil youth international will soon join up with his under-23 national team for their 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament held in Venezuela." The tournment referred to is the area qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in France this summer. The top two teams will qualify. The tournament runs from 20th January to 11th February.
Springett off to the cobblers (Northampton) on loan for the rest of the season https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/tony-springett-signs-for-northampton-on-loan
Good he needs some proper minutes to see what he can do, knowhere near first team ready from what I’ve seen so far
As a Cobbler by birth, this is a good move. They have a great set up there and are really progessing at the moment
I thought Springett would go out on loan in August but the injury to Sainz prevented that. Good to get it sorted now.
Forshaw set to join Plymouth https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...ity-adam-forshaw-poised-join-plymouth-argyle/
Assume there's likely a nominal fee involved given the final 6 months of contract. One of Webber's wastes almost out the door., plenty to go
To be fair it was a short term low risk deal for an experienced player, who on his day is a good player. However he was always going to be an injury risk and that’s exactly how it has worked out in the end
I would maybe have liked to keep him for the rest of the season in favour of loaning Gibbs out somewhere to get regular minutes
Here's the jist on Forshaw for those without Pinkun subscriptions. "There remains some work to do on the deal - but all parties are confident that Forshaw will join the Devon based side. Forshaw has entered the final six months of his Norwich contract and no talks have taken place over an extension - with sporting director Ben Knapper keen to lower the average age of City’s squad. He has made just six Championship appearances for Norwich since signing - his last coming in City’s 3-1 defeat to Sunderland back in October. Forshaw has failed to make the last five matchday squads but did start in their FA Cup third round tie against Bristol Rovers earlier this month." Seems logical to free up the squad place, especially now that Sørensen is fit again. Just hope we get replacements for him and Hwang.
I suspect there was never any intention for his contract to be extended when we signed him. Reasonable business to get him in as a short term measure to cover injuries. Does anyone know if Knapper has said that his intention is to lower the average age of the squad or is this just paper talk ?
Wagner is quoted as saying it at the end of this article: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/23972570.david-wagner-outlines-norwich-city-january-preparations/ however I don't know where Knapper said it originally. Edit-Found further quotes of Wagner agreeing with Knapper, but none direct from Knapper still https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...ner-agrees-need-lower-age-norwich-city-squad/ Interestingly we had all our squad places filled so with Sargent returning and Hwang being moved on we free up space to get in an >21 year old on permanent or loan in the January Window
That article was dated 7 December, so the words "ramping up" seem a little hollow now. "Norwich City are ramping up their January transfer window plans - with David Wagner set for further conversations with sporting director Ben Knapper this week." Since then Hwang and now Forshaw are out, but who might be coming in? Not the slightest indication of incomings or anything else for that matter. We thought Webber was uncommunicative.
