Prediction League Season 2023-24

I've just started on this. You've obviously got it right but I forgot to restate that scores are at the end of match play, whether of 90 minutes or 120 minutes if applicable and before any penalty shoot-outs.

I think that there is extra time and penalties but no replays... is that correct?

 

I think that 3rd & 4th round ties go to replays....it is only at the fifth round that we get extra time and penalty shoot outs if required......this is to try and alleviate the congestion later in the season when it is mainly the big boys left.

 

Ah well all the same: score excludes penalty shoot out (if applicable).

 

There are replays in this round but not in future rounds.

Sorry about the delay in getting the results out but apart from Plym, you really didn't need to hold your breath.



Newcastle's 3-0 scoreline really doesn't reflect their superiority: it could have been twice that. Equally, Arsenal over-ran Liverpool more-or-less throughout but paid the price in the last 10 minutes. Only Sensible scored points from both those prestige games.

Only SMH predicted a result for Eastleigh at Newport and nobody expected Bristol City to draw at West Ham. Well done to SMH and to those two teams.

We all scored points from the Argyle and Swansea games but Plym managed to get both scores right, Luckily for the rest of us, his joker was on West Ham.

There was very little change in the table but SMH nipped ahead of me by one point.



The next league programme starts on Friday at 8pm with Hull City v Norwich City. Super Match will be Birmingham City v Swansea City. Birmingham have taken just two points from their last 5 games but have a new manager in Tony Mowbray. Swansea's from has been better despite a month of managerial turmoil but have just made a permanent appointment in Luke Williams. Tough one to predict..... or not?

Not quite in the right order but I'm in too:

Away, Lyndhurst and Musty all got 12 points from the match predictions. I think Lyndhurst deserves a special mention for 3 points of the Hull v Norwich game with the only prediction of an away win.

Top scoring match was QPR v Watford, with only Joe failing to take at least one point, followed by the equally highly predictable win for Southampton, which everyone got right. Coventry's win against Leicester was a surprise, at least to us, and nobody got a point on that one.

What were you thinking when you put QPR down to win Joe?



Joe got the goal time, 13 minutes predicted against 12 actual.

The Top 3 retained a significant lead on the rest but Away clawed back the gain Plymborn made last time out. Lyndhurst continued his stealthy climb up the table.

The next round literally kicks-off at 8m on Friday 19th January. with Sunderland v Hull and trundles on until Monday 22nd with Leicester v Ipswich. The Super Match has to be Leicester v Ipswich.

We then have 8 league games spread from Wednesday 24th to Wednesday 31st. If nobody objects, I'll add four 4th round FA Cup games to make the usual package of 12. I'm thinking Leeds v Argyle, AFC Bournemouth v Swansea, Bristol City if they win their 3rd Round replay and one other (or two if Bristol City don't beat West Ham). Anyone have other ideas?
