So, it all comes down to this. A win or a draw sees us equal our league unbeaten record and would set a new all competitions record. Who would have thought that perennial neg-head Loading would snatch the steering wheel after 4 defeats and inject a little positivity back into things in such dramatic fashion? Sheffield literally means the clearing on the river Sheaf. The clearing of the Sheaf is how many women end up unexpectedly pregnant. Sheffield Wednesday are legitimately a historic football club. The irony being they started as a Wednesday Cricket club - hence the name. The club was founded in 1820, and added a football team in 1867 - to help the players keep fit during the winter. There are plenty of cricketers around the world who could use this training regimen today... I'm looking at you Rakheem Cornwall! Southampton used to have a nightclub called Thursdays - where West Quay now stands. We didn't train footballers or cricketers there, but I did used to go to Thursdays on a Wednesday. My friend once kicked a mirror there and it fell on me, causing me to get kicked out. Let's hope there are no such injustices on Saturday! Wednesday Addams is by far the most popular of the Adams family. Her spinoff series, Wednesday, is actually very good. The ultimate irony is that Wednesday is a rabid Sheffield United fan. Allegedly. This match sees Dannh Rohl return. He was the man many claimed was the real brains behind Ralph Hare Hutch. He is doing a great job up there, and I am sure his presence has given most of us a passing interest in Sheffield's fortunes. Let's hope they Rohl over for us on this occasion. We started the season with a nervy win away to Sheffield Wednesday. We looked very good, then wobbled, then won with a late, late goal. This was very much the pattern for our play for much of the season. Hopefully, this time we just look very good and win. 3-0 home win.
We seem to have a habit of running into teams that have gained a little momentum and we do that again with Wednesday having won 3 on the spin, albeit one against 10 man Hull. Could be a test for our keep ball tactics at the back with the SW podcaster on the TSP saying that they like to press high. Could equally give us the opportunity to mix up our game by being a little more direct and bypass the press. Going to be a tough game.
On paper this is an easier game than some, but in practice it wont be. Danny Rohl, high press - who'd have thought it I expect a nervy 1-0 or 2-1. May even be an even nervier 1-1.
Yep I think Wednesday will be well up for this and have hit a form. Coupled with our injuries meaning we may well struggle to score as much as we have at home recently and I could see this being a very close match and a potential slip up.
I'm glad this is at home and not away. We should have too much for them at St Mary's. At Hillsborough this would be very tricky. It was tricky enough on the opening night of the season.
They've hit a bit of form but they still lost at home to Cardiff in the league recently and they did lose away at Coventry.
I have no personal experiences to share about previous meetings as I've never been to Sheffield and I can't remember any home games against Wednesday, or Utd for that matter. Known as the Steel City. Sheffield is a real industrial heavyweight known for among other things manufacturing cutlery, and unlike other northerners Wednesday fans should know how to use a knife and fork. Sheffield is in Yorkshire. They all sound like mini Boycotts, dour ,sneering, conceited, over confident and confuse being honest with rudeness. When you meet someone from Yorkshire, within 5 minutes they will tell you where they come from and how it's "God's Country". After that they've got **** all else to say because they know nothing about the rest of the country. Anyway, welcome to Southampton. Throughout our history long runs of good and bad results are quite common. Although it's fair to say that from 1984 to 1998 Wednesday had the edge. Just. We didn't win any of the first 6 meetings. (1896 to 1923) For the next 40 years there was no hint of what was to come. P23 W10 D2 L11. From the 60's to the 80's we only lost once in a run of 9 games. From 1984 until 1998, just 2 wins in 30 matches. From 1998 until 2007, 9 games unbeaten including 6 consecutive wins. Also, from 1998 until now, we have only lost twice in 18 games and have won the last 5 on the trot. The well known saying " You're only as good as your last 5 games" holds up for this one, we'll piss this. Head to head Games won: 28 Games drawn: 24 Games lost: 33

IF we win, that will be our 9th consecutive home win. This is either a fantastic time to be supporting saints or it's a very long dream. If it is a dream it's better than the nightmare I had of last season .
I had a nightmare that we had a manager who was so unlikable I enjoyed watching him squirm at press conferences.
James Beadle: Sheffield Wednesday sign Brighton goalkeeper on loan. Keeper could play against Saints on Sat.(BBC)
